I like the 3 inch especially, they are all very nice though.

Nice. I just picked up a 4" -5 last week. Dept of Corrections trade in so it's not as pretty as yours.

the S&W 64 is one of my favorite models..............accurate and dependable.

I love the 64 with the standard barrel. I don't really want any more guns but one of them would tempt me. Nice collection of 64s.

Definitely a nice collection of 64s. I don't think I have ever actually seen one in person, though I always look for them at the gun shops. Seems like they would be superb for carry with the stainless construction, and especially with the 3" barrel.

Very nice collection of Model 64's that you have and my only Model 64 is a no dash snub nose and I love it.

Wonderful collection. Found a 4" LE trade-in that will be mine by the middle of next week. Can't wait

That three-incher reminds me there are still some guns I "need". I have a three-inch M-65, and it often accompanies me into Ugly Places. I also have several 4" 64's, shot one today, and was reminded that ALL good folks should have one. I'm wearing one right now, at work. It wears a nice set of Spegel Bolivian Rosewood grips, and is coveted by many! ;)

Nice gathering you have there!

I'm also thinking that's one nice collection of 64's. We only have one, I say we because I bought it and my wife liked it so much, which is sayin' a lot, that it's now her main K frame range gun......

Our's is a 4-inch heavy barrel that spent 11 years (1978-89) on duty with the Michigan State Police and since the Troopers were issued cross-draw holsters with a top flap their duty guns were a little more protected from the elements than some other dept's might have been.

Because of this the one we got was in pretty good shape and is smooth as silk since I sent it off to Teddy Jacobson who worked his magic on it........

Once again, nice collection!!

I love the Model 64. One day I hope to have the full set of barrel lengths (2", 3", and 4"), but right now I am most jealous of the 3" barrels I see in the photos.

Model 64-2

My Model 64-2 with a 2" Heavy Barrel is easily my favorite K-Frame for carry. In my collection of stainless snubnose revolvers, it is somehow the handiest, most classic, "snubnosiest" one I own. Of course it gets fed LSWCHP, and wears Magnas and a Tyler-T.

Picked up a Model 64 yesterday. I thought it was a no dash, but there is a 1 directly under the 6. Is this the usual way the dash-1 is displayed?
It is a four inch pinned heavy barrel. The serial number is D6401XX, which is in the 1973-1974 serial range.
It came with a really nice set of diamond magna stocks. These do not show holster wear. I will replace them with the newer style when I finish cleaning the gun.

Yours should be a no-dash Model 64. The -1 was a special .357 magnum version, the -2 is the 2" barrel version with the new gas ring and the -3 is the 4" heavy barrel version with the new gas ring. So... the 4" heavy barrel version went from a no-dash (beginning in 1973 with the heavy 4" barrel) to a -3 (beginning in 1977 with the heavy 4" barrel as far as I can tell.

I have to say I am a fan of the new S&W's, here is my 64-7 made in 2002 which was a security trade-in......... it has performed flawlessly and I use it for CC occasionally. I took off the beat up Uncle Mike's grips and put a Hogue Bantam on it, and it's a perfect compromise.......I like the round butt grip profile with the exposed backstrap, and the Bantam still gives me that RB "feel" but also adds grip and control, and still keeps the gun concealable.

I also have a 64-3, and the 64-7 is every bit the equal of it, if not a little better of a shooter and a slicker action. MIM and IL doesn't scare me away from a well made gun.
