Popularity of revolvers seems to be increasing lately.

Bud11, I agree with you.
Seems to me the revolver interest is growing.
I have revolvers and semi-autos and it seems as if I always carry my revolvers and they are my go to gun at home.

I have noticed when we have gun shows here there are lots of wheel guns and lots of semi-autos also.
I'm old school in the fact that you dont have to think about it as much on a revolver as you do a semi-auto as to what to do before you pull the trigger.
My own interest in revolvers has increased lately.
I guess we dont have to have a reason. I have always liked my revolvers better.

Ive only owned 2 semi-autos in my life. A Kimber and a Sig . I sold them both becausue I just didnt enjoy shooting them as much as I do revolvers. I love the feel of a revolver in my hands and the peace of mind that when I pull the trigger, it will not malfuncition. I own 6 S&W revolvers. I feel the same way about Winchester lever action rifles. They are old-school but, reliable and fun to shoot. In fact, chances are, if you break into my house at night, you will be looking down the barrel of my '52 Model 94 30-30 : )

I'm 33 and I'm in love with S@W revolvers. Only have 2 currently, but I only just started buying handguns a little over a year ago. I realize the Glocks are the AK47 of the handgun world, but I just don't like plastic guns...how they feel, how they shoot, etc. I have a 629 Classic in 6'5" and a 686 in 6". Next S@W purchase will be a brand new E-Series Stainless with accessory rail. It will be my first and likely only auto as a good 1911 is the ONLY auto I am interested in spending more than a couple hundred bucks on.

Guess in a way my taste in sidearms makes me a bit old fashioned for my age...And I'm completely OK with that!

I'm also a member on Calguns.net. It's predominantly a younger crowd, lots of G**** fanboiz, tacticool types...

But there is also a healthy group of the younger kids that are interested in revolvers. Mostly as fun shooters or wanting something in a "Big Boomer."

A lot of the youngsters are also interested in older milsurp rifles. Again, as a cheap shooter rather than a collectable safe queen or whatnot.

I think it's kinda cool.

IMO, revolvers are not only more accurate, they are more powerful.

Add to this the ability to custom load for them and you have the versatility you can not find in a semi.

To be fair, for those rare occasions I feel the need to CCW, it's a P220 or a 1911. In the woods it's a 44mag because things are a mite bit bigger.

Ask yourself just how nice the trigger breaks on an N frame and get back to me.

I think revolvers are seing a new rebirth. It is because of Civilian concealed carry. Many Civilians prefer a revolver, and rightfully so, because they have not had extensive semiauto training.
Also in many Civilian situations, the bad guy will be at "touching" distance.

Even a serious 1911 shooter, might be better off with a revolver in that situation...

And even though some of the autos are light weight and pretty compact, I cant get the accuracy I can with a wheelgun.

And I get told I don't fire autos enough...Let me say this.

I shot over 10,000 rounds through various auto pistols back in the Service Pistol Trials for the Air Force. In six months.

I have been bitten,pinched,lost a fingernail and suffered more brass in the face than I care to think about. I have reloaded so many mags that my fingers hurt.

The two I have I enjoy shooting ...once in awhile. I even carried my 1911 the other day.

Then I remembered why I bought a 638.

I guess it's really a personal preference. And if your ok with what you carry..well good for you.

You never need a gun, until you need one badly.Pick the one your best with.

Of the handguns that I own 4 are k frames. 3 of these came to me this year. I have a single shot Contender with a .22 barrel and red dot, and a scoped 14" .223 barrel. The rest are semi autos. I sold off a 9mm to my son. My Beretta PX4 .40 shoots great, and fits my hand great, but shoot Smiths more than anything. 2 guns that I would still like to have are a 547, and a 1911. I really don't like picking up brass, but I do.
I load 9's 40's, and .38's. Much easier with revolvers. For some reason, I find that I shoot revolvers better than semis.
I don't think that I will ever buy a new gun again, semi, or revolver. In my life the majority of my purchases have been used. There are many Smith revolvers out there that need a good home! I will quit rambling on now, SHOOT THOSE REVOLVERS!!! Bob

For me it's the feel and the nostalgia. I have a auto by the bed that holds 15 rounds but it seems when I go to the range its the revolver that is getting the most trigger time. In this world that is getting more and more high tech and plastic it just feels good to have something that feels heavy. I had a young guy come up to me on the range...he had been firing a glock and was watching me shoot my revolver. I let him run a few and I think I have another convert to the revolver. Must be something to the saying..."KISS".

I'm basically a revolver guy and at the range 90% of my shooting is with a revolver. That said my home defense guns are two Sig P226's one in 40 S&W and the other in 9mm. My carry gun is a Sig P228 9mm and it's and excellent choice for that.

So I guess I don't know where that puts me other then I have an acute dislike for plastic guns. Heck, even all my rifles have wood stocks and I don't mind refinishing them when they need it.

If I consider my agency's Glock Model 22 against the old six shot S&W revolver's, I would feel seriously outgunned with the old six shot. However, with a modern 8 shot revolver, moon clips, and the ultra-fast re-loads, I'd go on duty with that set-up if it were available.

I take it back. In a serious shoot out like we just had this week in our area, where a deputy was hospitalized with a wound to the face from an AR-15 and the guy fled up in to TN, I want my Glock. Had my agency given me all the training and active shooter school and STOPS school and all that with my PC 627 I don't know, but I still think the 46 rounds with two reloads with the Glock is the deal breaker.

I learned to shoot on a wheel gun - a Model 19. Carried a 686 when I was a reserve deputy for years. Then got into semi-autos for years.

Lately I've been going back to the revolvers. Bought a couple just recently to go along with my others, and find I'm carrying them more and more.

They just feel...right.

Early 50's child here, and I adore revolvers......most of my handguns are revolvers........however, my daily carry gun is a sweet, narrow little pocket DA 380 auto, which carries and conceals as if it's not there.
(Diamondback DB380, btw)

I can't easily conceal a revolver with shorts and t-shirt, and that's a major reason for carrying a very compact sized auto-loading pistol.
I keep it loaded with a hot, factory loading of jhp's, and this gun has decent accuracy on the 25 yard range, partly due to it's superb 3 white dot sights.

Currently, Diamondback and Ruger have upped the ante with their new & very narrow, compact 9mm's, but I'm holdin' out for a compact .40 or better yet, .45 acp version.

My shotguns are My mainstay for home defense, though My S&W 686-2 rests only a foot away from my hand, during my sleeping hours!

Had a Security Six years ago and then a 340 S&W. Moved both and went to auto's. At some point tried to like a LCP, then a BG380. I am now carrying a S&W j-frame 637-2 and will be trading my LC9 for a 642 or something like it soon. I am also considering moving my 1911 S&W E for a 6" K frame 357. I have had it with the few and far between malfunctions of all autos. Reliability is the most important thing to me and a revolver is all of that. I realize nothing is perfect but I have yet to read a single review of a revolver where the poster/writer mentions a feed problem. Carry what you can feel secure with but for me it is going to be a wheel gun from now on. I know the arguments, the military, FBI, Police, etc all carry autos so----. That is fine but for me I will carry what I feel best with and that is the only person I can answer for.

I continue to see less and less new revolvers at the gun shops I frequent. It seems to me the J-frame revolvers suitable for concealed carry are the only ones still holding on to any significant numbers with the exception of the single action type used for cowboy shooting.
