Are all 1st Model .32 cal Lemon Squeezers considered antiques?

I am new to this forum have had my S&W hammerless for years and and just now doing a little research to see how old it is and how much its worth. it is #60xxx and is in good shape I have never fired it but it looks nice, is blued

Welcome o the forum Gillert4u, Catfish2, and lowmoor4me,
First let me say that the only way to positively identify when a gun left the factory is to request a Factory Letter of Authentication ($50) from Roy Jinks the official S&W Historian. If your old Safety Hammerless is a family heirloom or in any way special to you it is well worht the money. I can give you an estimate to probably with in a year or two but the guns were not shipped in perfect numerical order so it is just an estimate.

1gillert you didn't specify if it was 32 or 38 caliber. If 32 it is a 3rd model that probably shipped within a year or so of 1910. If it is a 38 it is a 4th model that shipped around 1904.

Alex, your 32 SH is a first model and shipped right around the last half of 1897 or the first half of 1898. I believe it is considered an antique by the BATF.

Lowmoor4me you also failed to specify 32 or 38 caliber. Your gun shipped around 1895 if it is a 32 and it is a first model. If it is a 38 it is a 3rd model and shipped around 1892.

What model or vintage would this pistol be?

The pistol was among my grandfather's estate. I know it was registered in 1950 in Ontario but have no more information other than its serial number 2856XX.

Pistol Ident

Sorry try upload picture of a 32 caliber S&W ctge hammerless nickel small barrel pistol with a black handle grip serial number 2856XX last registered in 1950.

My thanks to the serious collectors here...

My first model is near me now. It is cleaned, lubed, waxed, and loaded. The craftsmen at S&W constructed it so well that it
functions probably as well now, as when it left the factory. I only wish
that my own labors could last so long. Tip of the hat to S&W. TACC1

.32 Lemon Squeezer

I have my great-great grandfather's gun. It's a S&W lemon squeezer, nickle-plated with black grips. It has a 3.5" barrel with a serial number reading 59XXX. Can anyone help me date this handgun?

CobyCapers Welcome to the forum. Your gun can not be a S&W Safety Hammerless or lemon squeezer. The serial number range for that model did not go above 260000. Possibly it is an Ivor Johnson as they had a hammerless model that fired either 32 or 38 S & W ammunition. If it is a S&W it should say Smith & Wesson on the top strap of the barrel, or if it is a very short barrel then it will say it on the side of the barrel.

Hello Cntrprk, Welcome to the forum.
With a 3 1/2 inch barrel it would have to be a 32 Safety Hammerless. The only way to know exactly when your gun was shipped would be to send for a factory letter ($50) from Roy Jinks who is the official S&W Historian. An educated guess derived from a data base that I keep would be in the time frame from late 1894 to spring 1895. But that could be off by a year or two as the factory did not ship them in numerical order.

Cflier - would you have an approximate date for a .32 safety hammerless with SN 82xxx? Any chance you know where a new firing pin could be located (I tried Gun Parts Corp but they have none.)

And, slightly off topic for this thread, would you have a date for a .32 model 1 1/2 with SN 85xxx?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum Folio,
The same advice as above would apply here. If you want an exact date and other shipping info cotact Roy Jinks. My data base would place it within a year one way or the other of 1897. You didn't tell us if your 32 1 1/2 is a rimfire or centerfire. In either case I have no reliable data base for those. Hopefully someone else with a 1 1/2 with a close serial # will jump in here and help.

I have a nice nickle plated .32 lemon squeezer with a 3.5" barrel. The serial number is 59XXX. Does anyone have any idea when it was made? Thanks

I also have a lemon squezzer, sn 22230, 3 inch barrel, nickel plated with wood grips. I would appreciate any source to find out more about the gun.

First off I would like to give props to those of you who are willing to provide knowledge to us. Thank you. I am new to this site and need a bit of help. I was given a 32 short safety revolver. I see cflier records serial numbers and can possibly tell me when mine was produced. I hear they shoot great but dont want to use the wrong ammo. From what i can see the serial number is 99272. Can u please provide some info about my gun. It was my great grandfathers. It is in nearly perfect condition all of the nickel looks really good.
