Congrats, that's a fine looking Smith! I wouldn't sweat the $200 especially if you've been looking for 20 years!

What he said. You got a dandy and when it's in your mitts, the price won't matter as much.

Only thing I can see wrong with it is the grips are too little.....;):D

Just gittin' even for comments on my 3 1/2 inchers with targets......:)

Thats a nice one. It will be easy to forget the price. That is if you really did pay too much. Around here I would expect to see that price.

Wow! $950? What has happened to the forum's most financially frugal member? You musta got a raise.
Nice gun! I'm surprised that there were only 3 bidders on such a desireable revolver. Go figure.

Well,I'm certainly one of those to whom they mean something. Tough one to find in the condition of yours. AND at a very reasonable price!

The 6.5" barrel likely doesn't mean much to most guys. I specifically wanted one.

I know what you mean. I think 6.5 is the proper barrel length for longer tubes on N frames, with 8-3/8 the special-circumstances length that is excellent in its own right, but hard to manage as a standard barrel; the common six-inch barrel is neither fish nor fowl. A barrel needs to be either 6.5" or longer, or 5" or shorter.

I even like the 6.5" barrels you could get on K-frames before WWI. That extra half inch just makes all the difference as far as appearance is concerned.

An excellent gun. You did well. And 20 years is long enough.

Nice wheelie Sax!! Should be an accurate bugger with that tube. Congrats to you!!

The red insert in the front sight may be slightly undersized, due to
shrinkage over the years. Otherwise, its a nice piece, and is all
correct.

Nice piece, SP. Don't see too many of those around.

Would've been cheaper 20 years ago, though ;)

A fine beauty. Nice, but still a real shooter.

I notice a personal preference to other than 4"or 6".

Seems like 31/2"-5"-61/2" just look better and more balanced.

I wonder if it simple disdain for the familiar, but it is distinct
to my eye.

Personal taste is just that, but many seem to feel the same way.

Congratulations and please let us know how she shoots.

Hello S.P.
Nice shooter. I Picked one up just like it this time last year on set up day at one of our local gun shows. It was wearing a set of Pachmeiers on it and the seller took my offer of $375.00 I asked if he had the original stocks for it and he brought them the next day. It turned out that they were a pair of Diamond center Target stocks {Not Cokes, But still Nice as they were removed when it was new} I Kept the large Target stocks and sold the gun for $750.00 with a set of Magnas on it on Saturday before Lunch. The Buyer was very Pleased to get it for that price as I was Pleased to almost Double my money and got to keep a nice pair of Diamond Target stock's in the end...:)

I know some won't understand but the 6" N frame doesn't excite me. The extra 1/2" makes the difference and I can see it immediately when looking at a revolver. Also, most 6" guns have the Patridge front sight and I prefer the ramp.

Yes, I am the resident cheap-skate and I agonized over this one for a couple days before deciding to go for it. I knew the reserve was just under a grand and I figured I would swallow my reluctance to pay top dollar and go that much. My $950 bid met the reserve and the others weren't interested in continuing.

I was hoping to find one for about $750, so I paid about $200 more than I wanted but this one looks maybe a bit nicer than I was ready to accept so it's OK.

I hope that Mr. Spock's advice regarding wanting vs. having doesn't come true in this case...

Dr. Pig, perhaps it is LOGICAL to finally have done what it took to end a twenty-year quest. However, had you bought the gun twenty years ago, I strongly suspect that you would have saved more than the slightly under three cents per day the extra $200 cost you in the interim.....!
