The Slide Fire Stock

Ya I modded the **** out of my original trigger, but to no avail, I could only get 3-10 round bursts. The stock triggers catch just does not reset properly, unless you have some serious polishing skills, and even then I have my doubts. There are cheaper trggers out there, such as the rock river 2 stage that work, but my suggestion would be to just pony up and buy the timney, its the only sure thing right out of the box. Also if midway has a sale on them, we have a coupon thread for them, so you could potentially get it alot cheaper than most did! As far as technique I found that I was pulling forward way too hard! Try using the palm of your hand leaving your hand open and pressing forward on the rail just in front of the mag. Dont grip it, just let it slide back with every last little bit of recoil it has. That got me my best bursts and almost a full mag dump with the stock trigger.

I had GOOD success with the federal Bulk ammo, Blazers didnt have as much POOP butt did ok...

In was at about 4lbs with JP Trigger... so hope to be at 3lbs or less with timney

sp74supra ditch the Remington, get a box of federal and try those.... bet it helps

Bill Springfield 3lb trigger is the stock system just Modified, Correct? Says he puts the JP Spring in. is yer spring Yellow? That could be yer biggest issue Bud..... take a pic of yer trigger and post it....

too much TRAVEL in Stock shouldn't effect things... it really barely moves when ya get the technique down.. Try holding the upper MAG area with slight pressure... Move the RIFLE forward and keep STOCK against yer shoulder... basically pull the trigger to yer finger, not the other way around

Change ammo and try again bud....

Stav,

Thanks for the reply. When I spoke w/ Bill he let me know that the only difference between his 3lb setup and 2.5lb setup was the yellow JP springs. So his advice was to try the 3lb setup and if it was still too stiff to order the yellow springs, which would intern make my trigger the same as his 2.5lb job. It just still feels a tad bit too hard as it sits.

With the Timney is it super easy to get it to dump full mags or does it still take precise technique?

Still takes technique with the timney as it has such low recoil, but once learned its as easy as point and dump! Only issue I have now are fail to fires, but as far as I can tell thats an ammunition issue not my gun. I got my trigger pull prety low when I messed with it, but didnt seem to matter, it was super easy to pull, but with the little recoil it just wasnt reseting properly. The timney is a 1 stage trigger as apposed to your standard two stage, both have thier advantages, but with the slidefire, you can tell it makes all the difference in the world. Plus now I have a competition trigger I can drop into my AR anytime I want.

i tried Federals with just the opposite to Blazers....i guess different setups run different stuff....

Timney to LAND Today.....:D

Testing on Sunday with the WIFE!!!

Gunna test blazers vs Federals also.... Im thinking my JP Trigger was MOST of my issues.... so we shall see

Cant WAIT ta try the Timney setup....

just Got 5000rds more ammo yesterday at cabela's SALE... Think im right around 10k rds now.... Good for a week or so

LOL

Put the slidefire on my newly acquired mp15-22.
I only had a JP 4.5 lb spring kit on hand...so I swapped out the stock springs.
Yes ,I have ordered the Timney but decided to tinker around to see if I could get mine to work otherwise. I didn't burnish or polish the engagements on the trigger assembly as I wanted to see what it would do with only the spring kit installed.
Rifle was new never been fired.
First mag was loaded with some fairly fresh Federal Bulk .22lr. Right off the bat I got a 3 round burst then nothing after that. 2 subsequent mags got no simulated full auto fire. Next I had a mag loaded with CCI Stingers which worked rather well to my surprise. 1 more mag of Stingers yielded the same success. Unfortunately I only 2 boxes (50 rds. per box) of Stingers so I stopped after blowing through the 2 mags. I don't know how much Stingers cost these days but I know I paid like 5 bucks a box for these a few years ago. I had no luck with the Federal bulk so I just plinked around with stock in semi auto mode.
I put 150 rds through the rifle on it's first outing and I figured that would be enough for now as I'm going to tinker with the trigger this evening to see if I can improve the results. At this point, I like the Stingers in my current setup but the Federals didn't have enough ooomph to reset the trigger. I will try to pick up some CCI mini mags and perhaps a few more Stingers. When that Timney gets here I'm sure all will be better if I haven't figured it a way with my current parts.

Watch them pins like a hawk brotha! I installed mine to the letter (besides torqueing it as hard as they suggested, soon as I seen the polymer flex I quit) and it seemed tight as virgin, but come third mag dump one slid out like a well oiled pole on a $2 whore. Think I may have had one to many of them tasty brews after that last statement. Night

WOW…… is all I can say

My Review of Timney Trigger is 2 THUMBS UP!!!!! Made my SLIDE FIRE even MORE Fun….

Lets start with FTF’s Lots… why… Lets Look at This shall we….
  • Lighter Strike or INCREASED RAPIDITY of Strikes…. Maybe BOTH
  • Blazers and federal BOTH had FTF… so NOT AMMO
  • Over 4000 rds prior and NO FTF…. But ALSO couldn’t FULLY DUMP 50rd DRUM…
  • Looked at Strike Location on Shells and FTF’s.. same spot so must be a light strike issue

POOP or Power is LOTS more with Timney
  • Dumping 50rd DRUM awesome
  • Weight NOT the issue… TRIGGER is the CHALLENGE…. Didn’t add any more TOYS on my gun.. but no-matter how I Gripped/held it I was able to achieve FULL MAG dumps every time…
Timney Trigger Comparison……
  • JP is 2 stage Trigger.. Challenge is getting staging CORRECT…Im no GUN SMITH…
  • Never could DUMP 50rd Drums…..
  • In-consistent with various AMMO….
  • I would attribute BOTH ABOVE to my LACK of GUN experience….. JP Triggers are GREAT…… but NOT for ROOKIE like me …
  • Timney is 1 stage DROP in Trigger…. NO BRAINES REQUIRED…. I LIKE IT….LOL
  • MUST HAVE the KNS Pins… Ordered Yesterday...KNS Precision Gen2 Mod2 Trigger Group Pins- For Smith and Wesson M&P15-22
  • My STOCK pins did start Falling out after 23 mags…. Get KNS….. (see Picture)

NOW for my Fun Day review…. Wife and I had an AWSEOME QUALITY DAY….. over 1000rds LOBBED down range…. Video shows my FUN Times with 50rd DUMP 2x.. and the Target shows all 50rds on TARGET….LOL….

Anyways… Stupid fun DAY… guna try my Slide Fire on my Buddies Ar15 .223 next Sunday…. See how THAT is:D

INCREASE your RETARDED fun.......

GET A SLIDE FIRE STOCK NOW!!!!!!!

nice ....still working on mine and timney single stage ordered..can't wait till I get there..lol

Another AWSOME day with the wife yesterday

Timney Trigger with KNS Pins worked FLAWLESS:D

So my thoughts on a few things...

CCI tactical Rounds by FAR have the MOST POOP... wife even notices them
Federal Bulk has MORE POOP than the CCI Blazers.... Just my observation....
FTF seem to ONLY happen when I dont TRY and Fully unload the MAG... just when i do BURSTS...... and NEVER have had a FTF on the 50d Drums.....

another 1000rds LOBBED down range... think I am at about 6k rounds ish and she is STILL firing like she was a new born baby....LOL

Now onto my Bushmaster Carbon 15 i STOLE from my buddy..... Ill be testing the Slide fire on it this Sunday..... I think my Wallet will be a Little Lighter for sure;)

Stav

i've got the technique down pretty well, now i can mag dump just about any ammo no matter how crappy.

the biggest difference for me was how I held my trigger finger. i hold it so my index finger actually hangs over the outside of the trigger rest a bit.

the key is that the inside, second bone (intermediate phalange) of your trigger finger should always be engaging the trigger square on, and your trigger finger should be stiff as possible. it should not move at all. if you have the pad of your index finger on the rest, your trigger finger will be sliding across the trigger at an angle a bit, causing inconsistent engagement of the trigger.

Which Timney Trigger and KNS Pins are you using? Can you post a link? Thanks!

-Mike

Welllll

Long story SHORT.... went to Cabela's on Wed 5/9.... they had a S&W M&P 15 Sport in stock....... now they DONT:p

So my Slide Fire testing on Sunday changed a BIT.....

.223 Slide fire is INSANE.... actually more Fun than i anticipated.....:D

So now with my CUSTOM made block i can swap between AR15-22 and Ar15 Sport in seconds....

Fully RETARDED fun......
