The plastic striker part that is in the rear of the assembly broke. Does anyone know if a .40 assembly will fit the shield since the safety plunger and the sear from the other M& P work in the shield

First how did it break?? I'm not sure if the striker assemblies are the the same but why not just give Smith & Wesson a ring. I'm sure they would send you one.

I did a detail strip to clean after several trips to the range. I am not sure why the bottom ring cracked.
Called them Smith wanted the entire pistol back. I will call them again tomarrow . It's just a plastic part said that they could not send any parts.

The Answer is YES:D. Calling Smith CS about the Shield is an exercise in futility. They have no clue about the gun. Parts list is not available, they cannot answer a question about this gun intelligently. I called 3 times asked 3 different people in CS about this they did not know squat.
I took a chance and ordered a 9/40 striker assembly from Brownells exchanged emails with Dan Burwell, great guy, and he told me it would fit. Said all 9/40 striker assemblies fit the shield.
Got the assembly 30 minutes ago and it does fit and functions perfectly. Also installed the Apex hard sear and trigger block , trigger pull has dropped to about 4 lbs and smooth as silk. More take up but almost no over travel.
Hope this helps someone else looking for answers that Smith can't won't provide. Saved me 3 to 4 weeks being without my Shield.

Its good to hear you got it fixed without having to send it in. I like how they made so many of the existing M&P parts work in the shield.

Good deal and thanks for letting all of us Shield owners about the common parts between models...

The answer is yes. Apex Tactical did a tear down and comparision between the Shield and a full sized M&P. The parts that can be swapped are:

Sear
Sear Spring
Sear Plunger
Striker Block
Striker Block Spring
Striker Block Washer
Trigger Return Spring
Striker Assembly
Extractor Pin

So it looks like an easy fix for you. If you have any questions, you can try calling Apex.
