Just watched ADAM-12 yesterday.
Aired from 1968-1975
Now those look like the good 'ol days of LA and policework. Two officers to a unit, and the city is not congested (or 99% slime pit). I would not visit there now if you paid me, but did visit 25 years ago and liked it. .
Anyhow, NICE revolver and case !!! Where did you get that?

I watch every older show now looking at the older police revolvers. Luckily we have a local channel that shows all these older cop and detectice shows. Thats neat where did you find these?

Fantastic display. You can order the series on DVD from Amazon. They did have all 7 seasons. Best show on the air when I was a kid. The show showed me which professional path to take. Glad I paid attention to the show then especially now that I am a Police Officer.
I watched a B & W episode of Adam-12 just a couple of nights ago. They were sure not carryig 6 inch K-frames; looked to be 4 inch K-frames, maybe with adjustible sights (there seemed to be a bit of a bump at the rear of the frame. ) Just like Dragnet, these things seem to be very fluid and change from season to season.

Thanks for all the "likes." To start with, I'm emotionally attached to K frame revolvers. I cut-my-teeth on them in "the business." Back in the day, I was on the department's pistol team. I have a lot of squeeze time with these iconic pieces of American steel and craftsmanship.
I wanted to do a tribute to my K-38. I also collect law enforcement memorabilia. My model 14 here was a workhorse. Along the time she was purchased, we never kept the factory boxes. We also threw away the hand grips and installed Goodyears. So, I really didn't have much to go with her.
I contacted our own JCElect. Joe found me a circa 1970's presentation box and refitted it. I polished up the K-38 and picked out some presentable furniture. I added my Adam 12 items. And there you have it.
A well deserved tribute then; To the LAPD, LEO's and Smith & Wesson's workhorse K-38 Target Masterpiece.

Just need the Hoyt breakfronts. GREAT thread. The Model 14 and 15 were wonderful revolvers. The LAPD, like the Navy and the Marine Corps keeps up the tradition of their uniforms. Neat to see!
Model 15 FWPD
Seeing the second picture of the actors holding their Model 15s made me decide to post mine. It is a Model 15-2; stamped on the left side of the frame below the cylinder is FWPD which I was told when I bought it in 1998 was Fort Worth Police Department. I put these later targets on it to replace the old set of Pachmayr Signatures that were on it when I got it (for under $200 OTD)

My "Shooter" 15-3 (1969)
This one sees more use than any of my other 15's. It has the .312 smooth combat forged trigger, std combat hammer and a Wilson Combat spring kit and trigger job.
And....smooth speedloader cutout targets....

For all the turmoil of those days--mid sixties to mid seventies--it still seems like a simpler time from here. Maybe it's just nostalgia.
The militarization of police forces (a lot of them anyway) bothers me and I look back on those times and the equipment they used as being more appropriate for a constabulary force.
But I'm an old crank.

Loved that show. Reed and Malloy were true gentleman in blue. Looking at those pictures of the show, and of the fellow forum members guns and it is amazing how far police guns have come. No officer in his right mind would venture out with a wheelgun in today's world.
I talked with retired state trooper recently, and as we were discussing the handguns he has carried he mentioned that in the early 60's he was patrolling the upper northern reaches of the state turnpike, alone, with a revolver on his hip and 6 rounds in the cylinder, backed up with 10 rounds in a pouch on his belt and a pair of handcuffs. He marveled at how our troopers are equipped today, hi-cap semi-autos, a 12ga, an AR and plenty of ammo. How times have changed...
