Beautiful 27 thread

Here is 5" model 27-2, shipped May 1973, as it came from the factory. I bought it new in June, 1973, and it still remains as it came from the factory.

While I admit a preference for the appearance of the 5" variants in particular, I think I will have to have a jealous fit and hate all of you.

I have a great idea. Let's redistribute the wealth, beginning with S&W Model 27's. We just want to make everything fair, and everyone have an equal opportunity, Right?

Great thread.....love all the pics....thanks everyone for sharing.

I think I'm having a spirtual moment looking back over this thread and all the great revolvers pictured. :o

Forgive me,

S&W 27-2

Gentlemen:

I've just lucked out, able to purchase a lightly used 27-2 from an estate, and I only knew enough about it that I shouldn't let it get away. It currently has a Pachmayr grip- that just won't do. Nickel finish, 3.5" barrel.

How can I trace the manufacture date? I see so many photos of beautiful pieces with gorgeous grips- who makes them for this gun?

I'm a newbie to the group and look forward to learning more about this revolver- I don't know whether to shoot it and enjoy it, or lock it up in the gunsafe...

Howdy turnerriver,
Is the lower gun a 27-2? The open ejector rod is like none I've ever seen, but there is lots I've never seen.
I have one with a none serrated back strap so oddities are out there.
Thanks
Mike
