Shield Magazines

my LGS got an order yesterday. I bought an extra when I picked up my .40 Shield today for 37.50 plus tax. Put 100 flawless rounds of all kinds of ammo through it and just love the little cannon.

The wait is ridiculous!! They said they would be available 2 weeks after the gun came out, its been two months! I am tired of buying all these toys and can't get extra mags with them. They need to make more of the extra's before they put out new products, like the New S&W VE's, come on, really, who wants one of those? I waited for ever to get the M&P 22LR mags and they didn't even come from S&W!

Talked to S&W today and asked about the extended mag, they said not yet, I figure it will be late fall before we see them, JMO of course.

Unfortunately, waiting for extra mags and factory accessories to make it to retailers (or direct order from the mft) is part of the price paid for buying a new model pistol and should be expected.

I went through the same thing for flush mags (and full size mag 'Xtension' sleeves) for both the XDsc and the XDMc. It's still a bit hard to find the flush XDMc mags.

When you find 'em, pick up on as many as you think you may want, right off the bat.

I found two 8-rounders, new in package, on e-Bay this morning. Needless to say, I bought them.

I did call Able Ammo to see if they had any...the 8 rounders are out of stock, but they do have the 7 round magazines in stock. The guy I spoke to said they had them in their warehouse, and it would be 5 - 7 days to pull them, and then whatever shipping option you elected before they would get to you. I didn't order any, since I just got the 8 round magazines...in fact, since I have two of the 7 round magazines (one that came in each of my two Shields) I may just buy 8 round magazines from here on out. My wife prefers the 7 round magazines for carry, and I like the 8 rounders...she can shoot the 8 round magazines at the range.

so you paid $80 for them? no thanks. Midway will have them in a couple weeks for around $30 each

Actually, no...I paid $70 for them. The seller had them listed as buy now or make offer...so I made an offer, which he accepted.

Yes, it's a little more than Midway will charge for them, IF they get them in stock by the date anticipated and IF there are enough to actually get some before they sell out. So, I paid about $10 more than I would have paid on Midway, at some future point. It's worth it to me to have them now. If it isn't for you, that's fine. I'll have enough now to wait until the availability is better and the prices come down (hopefully) before I buy more.

If you think these prices are bad, you would really hate buying mags for an H&K. When I had my USPc .45, the cheapest mags I could find for it were over $60.

I was gonna buy two from able ammo the other day when someone posted the had the 7 rounders in stock. I placed 2 in the cart the 17.00 shipping is what stopped me! COME ON!

That is indeed ridiculous...unless you are ordering a LOT of magazines (weight issue) then that is far more than they are spending.

That is what I like about Greg Cote's site...his prices are low, and his shipping is always reasonable. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any Shield magazines in stock right now...but he has the other M&P magazines (most are in stock) and he has some of the best prices on those I have seen. I hope his Shield magazines will be priced as well, when he gets them.

I have enough to last me for now, but I do want to get more...eventually.

That's the problem with buying online. Many will Low-Ball the item price, knowing they will make it up on the jacked up shipping charge.

Even with MidwayUSA, some people complain about the extra 'Handling Fee' Midway tacks on if your purchase is under $XX.xx ($28 I believe?). I only wish I could get off the Midway site with a shopping cart under $28. :D

I found magazines for the M&P Shield 9mm, extended 8 round on E-Bay from "Joe's Pawn". They also have the 7 round clip in 9mm. They list the items (2 clips) for $79.80 plus $4.99 shipping, but accept best offers. I paid a total of $74.99 shipping included. Hope this helps.

I got my magazines in the mail, the ones I bought on eBay...and I was very disappointed. For one thing, they are not in factory packages. They weren't even wrapped at all, in anything...just loose in the envelope. Both looked genuine, but one follower appeared that it had been used...not much, perhaps a test fire at the factory. They also looked a little dinged up (not bad at all, but not pristine) possibly from bouncing around against each other during shipment. I really can't believe he didn't even wrap them in something!

I contacted the seller, who got very snotty with me...he said the description of being in factory package is an automatic add-on from eBay when he selects the condition as new. After some messages back and forth he is sending me a return label, and will issue me a full refund.

I've never bought magazines from eBay before, and this will be the last time. I will wait until they are available from MidwayUSA, S&W, or Greg Cote LLC.

I was (as I posted earlier) able to pick one up at Sportsman's Warehouse, might be worth a look if one's in your area.

Able Ammo is showing having some 7 round mags, but they're in the mid $30s (plus shipping)
... and if you live in TX, you'll get hit for sales tax too.
