Oneeye you gotta get this for your varmint rig. Its a little reflex sight you can mount on your scope. I will be using this on yotes at close range shooting then the coyote special long distant. :p

I got the mini green dot reflex for $94 shipped to my door.

That is a good looking sight. how accurate is it and to what range? I am pretty sure it would clear my turrets. I honestly have wondered about something like that for short distance shots. Let me know how that works for you. I would definitely be interested especially since I have gone back to my 8-32x42 scope. close range is not so good but if it works great to at least 25 yards that would be great.**THUMBS UP**

It says to sight it in at 40yrds. So I would think you would be fine out to 100yards with it.

1 MOA = 1.047 inches rounded down (more precisely 1.047197580733 inches) at 100 yards.

A 6 MOA dot is 0.06282 inches per yard.

At 600 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 37.692 inches of target.

At 500 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 31.41 inches of target.

At 400 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 25.128 inches of target.

At 300 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 18.846 inches of target.

At 200 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 12.564 inches of target.

At 100 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 6.282 inches of target

At 50 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 3.141 inches of target.

At 40 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 2.5128 inches of target.

At 25 yards a 1x 6 MOA dot is covering 1.5705 inches of target. (7 times larger than 5.56 bullet diameter at .224 inches)

comparison:

A 1 MOA dot is 0.01047 inches per yard.

At 600 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 6.282 inches of target.

At 500 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 5.235 inches of target.

At 400 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 4.188 inches of target.

At 300 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 3.141 inches of target.

At 200 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 2.094 inches of target.

At 100 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 1.047 inches of target

At 50 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 0.5235 inches of target.

At 40 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 0.4188 inches of target.

At 25 yards a 1x 1 MOA dot is covering 0.26175 inches of target. (1.1 x larger than 5.56 bullet diameter at .224 inches, almost the same size)

From the above we can see that a smaller dot is better for precision hits and allows longer range use of the dot than a 6 MOA dot would allow. Another thing to consider is how big the target area appears from the shooter point of view at those ranges vs how much of the target is obscured by the dot.

The smaller the target appears from the shooters view point the more of the target area will be covered by the dot. For example, if the target area appears to be between 2 to 3 inches in size from the shooters point of view at 50 yards then the entire target area would be completly obscured by the 6 MOA dot and the target boundaries not viewable for reference. On the same target at 50 yards with a 1 MOA dot the target area covered is 0.5235 inches and the rest of the target area remains viewable allowing for target boundary reference which increases capability for precision hits at chosen specific spots within the target area boundary.

To account for normal vision resolution vs depth preception with a 1 or 2 MOA dot for anything over 100 yards round up to the next higher whole inch number for estimation.

To account for normal vision resolution vs depth preception with a dot size greater than 2 MOA for anything over 100 yards round up to the next higher whole inch number plus 0.5 for estimation.

thanks Foxtrot, for me I have found a 1MOA dot allows me comfortable shooting only to about 40 yards. After that the dot covers up my targets. I also have discovered on previous rifles (a Hi Point Carbine) that the rifle was good to go with a 5MOA dot but you really couldnt shoot accurately beyond about 75yards but my targets were bigger. The Carbine was not accurate enough for precision shooting. On my home built Modern Sporting Rifle I have a counterfeit Eotech with a 1MOA dot surrounded by a 65MOA circle. At 50 yards it shoots approximately 4" groups rested but it doesnt have a bipod and is mostly for offhand shooting. It will pound an 8" gong at 100yrds. So this sight would be pretty accurate under 40yrds provided it clears my scopes turrets.

I shoot comfortably to 300 meters with a real EoTech 512 1 MOA dot with the M&P15 OR.

4 inch groups at 50 yards with the counterfit 1 MOA dot? I do between 1 to 2 inch groups at 50 yards on a really bad day with the real EoTech and the M&P15 OR in fighting stance, prone, or barricade, if not having a bad day I do better. Considering a man sized target, but a target no smaller than a chihuahua, a 6 inch group at 50 yards is just as deadly as a 1 inch group at 50 yards. 1x dot sights are intended for quick acquistion and engagement, not groups.

I have learned that the Eotech style doesnt lend itself to bench style shooting but it is great for coyote hunting and great for targets on the move. I have yet to miss a coyote on the move with it.

Yeah Primary Arms have been out of stock on these and the Aimpoint Micro clone model for a long time now. Bunch of guys on the AR15.com forum are waiting on these. They had been working on a new version of the reflex and of course they are made overseas so its taking a while.

counterfeit Eotech with a 1MOA dot surrounded by a 65MOA circle. Do you have a link for this?

I'm curious about the AR-332 mounted in front of the scope. How is it working out? Does the bdc work? Is it clear? What kind of range? Tell me everything!!!

Storeyteller,

I love that AR-332 the glass is very clear like the Nikon. The BDC works great on it. The two things I would do different are, I would get the higher magnifcation model. And I would put a quick release mount on it.

I got the AR-332 and I love it too. What I wanna know is how is it working out IN FRONT of the other scope!?!? I have been saying that if they made one in 18 power then we would have call it varmit killin instead of varmit huntin! Looks like you may be on to something there.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... It doesn't work out well. You would have to find a scope that would mount at the same heigth then take the corss hairs out. I was just messing around in that pic of my zombie slayer.
