Guys-

Apologies if this has been asked before, but will there ever be a time in the future that S&W will offer the 17 round 9mm magazines or other full size (they are not high capacity, IMHO) magazines again? I see the gouging going on for a few mags here and there, but I was hoping that S&W would offer the right size mags so we can buy them once again.

It isn't Smith and Wesson issue...

Magazine availability is an industry-wide issue at the moment, due to the political climate. Here in a few months, magazine availability will most likely improve.

Last week my local Palmetto State Armory put a case of them out (17 round 9mm). I have all I need so I left them alone. I go by every couple days looking for a few specific things, and noticed it took about four days to sell them.

If I see that again I'll buy the case and sell them to forum members. They were $39ish plus 8% tax.

Luckily for me my 17 round mag issue was solved by a member of another forum last week that sold me 3 very lightly used (they all look new) mags with x-grips for $75 total. He just wanted what he had in them and said he hates the panic buying that's happening now.

I hope the supply chain refreshes soon for everyone.

Im not a buyer at panic prices either. I can wait this out. Would love to have two more 17rd 9mm mags, but it will have to wait.

I would have hoped that S&W would have gotten as many regular size magazines out as possible. I for one will not give an inch on my 2nd Amendment rights. I'm looking at getting a 3 D printer if I have to in order to print them myself.

Look around, occasionally online companies have em. Currently CDNN has lightly used M&P45 mags for $19. I bought 2. One was like new and the other not far from it. Just keep checking

I always buy everything I need when I purchase the weapon. For the Shield and 22 I pre ordered them through my LGS where I bought them and have them at a great price.

When will the M&P magazine supply issue be solved ?

When everyone quits paying these outrageous prices and the "flippers" start loosing money insted of making a killing selling them. I quit buying when things started going crazy. Paying $100. for an $18. mag is stupid,NOT crazy.

Would be nice to get everything at gun purchase, but not always an option. Anyone buying a new mp 9 fs likely wont find extra mags available.

I just ordered a new M&P 9mm...It had 2 17 mags...I waited to get one with 17`s...

The mag situation is stupid crazy I saw 3-17 round mag go for $300 and many more with bidding at 80+...I won`t pay it but I`d like at least 2 more but will wait till things calm down...

What will you do if it gets closer to a hi cap mag ban? There seems to be a very big push behind this....Jim

Magazine shortage is a fact but with S&W M&P is worse than with any other brands. I own various Glocks, a Sig Sauer and a CZ-75B, I bought magazines during the last two months for all of them but for my M&P 9 Full and my 9C.

Some of these local stores don't seem to get it that if you take advantage of the situation to gouge customers on the price of guns, ammo, and magazines now, they're GOING to remember and take their future business elsewhere.

Yes, as an MBA I fully understand the whole supply-demand side of capitalism, but business ethics and customer relations play important parts as well. The best thing they can do at the moment is limit sales quantities, which is "fairer" to their regular and new customers, giving more of them an opportunity to buy. (And yes, I'm keeping score around here.)

As for the auctions, I have no problem with that. Anyone dumb enough to pay those highly inflated prices deserve what they get, and it does provide at least an opportunity for those who are truly desperate for some reason.

Of course, being a bit of a cynic, I'm wondering if certain gun-ban politicians might have bought up quantities of magazines before the election with the intent of selling when the opportunity arose to try to pass this kind of legislation. The prices would very predictably rise...

S&W has put a halt to sending out mags out to distributors at the moment (as they are not getting enough of them in).

Not too surprising. They currently have other replacement parts shortages as well. I suspect they're allocating what they can get for production and complete gun packages.

Not 100 % true. LGS are smarter than we give them credit for. If you NEED 9mm ammo and your LGS is the only one around that has it. Your buying from the LGS that sold the mags a a higher price. It's pretty simple, supply and demand during a shortage or not if you need it you will buy it

With all due respect to S&W, the M&P pistol magazines were not exactly flowing even before the craziness. By my way of thinking there has always been a supply problem. Thus, I have no idea when S&W will solve this problem, if ever.

I myself am still new to all this, and from the looks of it, I picked a hell of a time to jump in. But every LGS I've been too was low or completely out of their M&P parts and accessories. But had a decent supply of other brands and models. Like several of you have said....just gotta ride it out.
