I know some people have a strong opinion about this one way or the other. So, how do you feel? Do you let pets on your bed? Is it different for cats and dogs?

Me personally, I don't really care. I don't invite them up on the bed but I don't kick them off.

Like you, I don't really care one way or the other but our Irish Wolfhound is strongly in favor of it :)

I never invited my Golden Retrievers on the bed but when they were young and our bed was lower they would jump up. Then we bought a new higher bed and that ended.

Now with the new Mrs she has cats and they jump up. Some nights I let the one older cat sleep at my feet some nights he gets put out. Its the cat hair on the bed that gets me sometimes. Have to be aware when laying clothes on the bed so don't end up with a cat hair shirt or slacks. :)

Our great dane somehow finds herself on our bed occasionally when we are in our bedroom during the day. Never overnight, she prefers one of the leather sofas or sectionals. Since her legs are dang near as long as mine, I prefer her on a couch at night as well.

Same with the cat. He sometimes finds his way onto the bed day or night for a short time while he's on "his rounds" but generally, he likes the basement or the den for sleeping. He's a typical noncommittal, somewhat aloof cat.

I rather they all stayed off our bed completely but, at the end of the day I'm a least one rung lower on the ladder around here so it's best not to rock the boat. I'm really not suited for sleeping in the barn.

No dogs, no cats, no iguanas, no pythons, no ferrets, no nothin' on the bed, no foolin'.

At night, the dog sleeps in her crate in the laundry room and the cat is shut out of our bedroom.

On weekend mornings, we'll let the critters come in. The cat sometimes goes on the bed, but the dog always does... She loves it.

Only on top of the sheets. In fact we have a lot of them on the bed. My wife gets cold so we have the sheet, comforter, and then three, yes three blankets, including a manly purple flowery one.

On the bed, how about under the covers?

Our lab mix Geraldine has couch, lap and bed priveliges. In the Winter when it's cold she dives under the blankets to stay warm.

Our previous dog, Nelson, an Australian Cattle dog, had his own pillow on the other side of my wife. Dog on left side, wife in middle, me on right side. Bed time would come, he'd lay down with his head on the pillow, never move till morning. He was a "One Person" dog, he never left my wife's side. Sadly, Nelson died a few years back and Geraldine has taken his place.

Geraldine is a "One Person" dog, but it is me she favors....

We have 3 Male Main Coon cats. (Totally indoor cats)The small one is 18# the next is 21# and the biggest is 27#. They are very affectionate, but at their size (large breed) they leave hardly any room for us humans. So during the day the bedroom door is open and they can sleep there if they want, at night we keep the door closed and they can have the rest of the house.

This appears to work well, as my wife gives then their last meal for the day just before we take over the bed room. While their busy eating we shut the door and they are happy eating.

Our dogs have a bed downstairs and I don't get in it.... and I don't allow them on mine.

My dog has her own bed in the livingroom near the front door (first line of defense) and she wakes me up if someone or something is in the yard. I stopped allowing dogs to sleep on my bed years ago when I had a pug dog who snored louder than me.
