Dang, Bill....I dunno if Frannie was good with pups or not. Heck! That was 45 years ago!!! How am I supposed to remember that kind of stuff? I can't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning!!!

Yeah, I'm afraid that even if Iris doesn't work out on cougar or bear, she still has a permanent home here at the ol' homestead.Plott Hounds I believe were bred to hunt Boar, and these days Bear. Started in North Carolina I think. Could be the State dog there. A sad note, I saw one at a shelter in W.VA a couple years ago. Seems that over there, if they don't hunt to suit them, they are just left to get by on their own. My first induction to one was one I spotted in Gander Mt. one day, being lead around by some gal about 80 years old. Seems he had been left to fend for himself ---- Bad business that. Iris looks to be a happy pup. good for you.![]()
It makes me sick to hear how some so-called "houndsmen" treat their dogs. I guess I'm just not as serious as some of those guys. My dogs are my buddies first. If they're also good at something else...well, that's just like a cherry on top of the hot fudge sundae...and extra bonus.
