I stumbled upon a 25-7, its the 5" smooth cylinder in a mat finish. Its been shot and is not mint just showing use not abuse.
Its got the box and I am not sure what else.

They want $750 and wont deal and its plus tax.

I am on the fence, I wanted a 45lc to play with but I dont know the value of these guns.

I did see that the -7 is not overly common, certainly not rare either.

What do you guys think.

Sorry no pictures :(

I've wanted one of those myself, that seems like a decent price to me. Most I've looked at have been in the $900 range, cool revolver.

I have owned 2 of these --45LC brass is thinner than 44 --The guns look the same & the 29 is easier to find & so is 44 brass. Check the timing both single & double. People do strange things to guns. A Smith 29 will do the same thing only better & with a lot wider range of powder & bullets.

I already have 2 29s 4''& 8 3/8'' so I'm looking for a .45. I have a .45 carbine so might as well get the pistol too. It's just another caliber and being diverse COULD come in handy do to possibl ammo shortages. If things get "interesting" the more different calibers the better chance of finding ammo if things get that bad. Getting a .45 will be the 8th pistol caliber I have.:D

The 25-7 is the only .45 Colt I own. It is great fun to shoot and is one fine gun. The throats are the correct size and accuracy is great. Mine shoots a little high at 7 yards, but not enough to be a problem. While they can be found occasionally, there were not many made and I cannot recall how many. However, when I read how few were made I was surprised. Oh, yeah, they were produced with the floating hand. If you shoot much double action, you may want to change it back to the regular hand.

At today's prices, that sounds good.

I tell you this, it's the gun I choose when I want to feel good about my marksmanship. It makes me look way better than I am.

It's a great gun to shoot, just like the .45 acp big low pressure.and comfortable. If you roll your own you can also fill them as you like.

25-7

I spent a couple of years looking for one with a box at a price I was willing to pay.
Finally found one here for $850.00 shipped if I remember right.
It was just what I wanted, very ,very clean and nice but I was not first to shoot it.
Funny thing about mine, most I have seen seem to come with rubber grips, mine has targets and say's so on box.
YMMV

P.S. Great gun, really looks like a working gun.

25-7 LC

You might want to check the throats before you buy it to verify they're not too loose for your needs. Take a 250 or 300gr JHP bullet & see if it passes thru too easily. Don't worry about modern 45LC brass not being strong enough, especially for a 25-7. I load my S-L 45 Colt brass to near Casull starting pressures for my SRH 454, with no troubles, that are higher than 44 Mag.
I always get a chuckle out of S&W's reluctance to stamp "45 Colt" on their barrels. I know it must kill them when they do it. :p

I'd jump on it. Remortgage the farm and grab all the n frames you want now. That's my motto.

They are easily the most accurate .45Colts S&W ever made !!!
I have both the 25-7 and 25-9 variations.
The cylinder throats on these do not have the oversize problem associated with many of the 25-5s !

oh well...

I went back to look at it again and i brought my good glasses...

RUST, on the side plate, cylinder, in the yoke. Holster wear on the muzzle, along the rib. A nice deep scratch on the barrel.

It has the box, a one piece no paper work.

Recoil plate has wear at the top

Also has speed loaders...

They want $750 plus tax

I passed...
