I'm finally the proud owner of a 340pd with no lock!! I have been hunting for one for a while now and located a LGS with a 340 in stock. Immediately, I drove down to look. Finally arrived and saw the 340 with No Lock!!! I bought it immediately for $899 + tax!! No canted barrel, NIB, and beautiful. Has a test fire date of 9-13-13, must be back in production! Came home, cleaned and oiled the gun, and fired about 120rds through it. Fired 100 158gr .38s and 20 135gr Speer .357s. This thing is a cannon! After all the comments about recoil on the intranet, I was expecting bruised and bloody hands. With .38s she is a pussycat, .357s go bang but no discomfort or pain. I don't think I'll be shooting 180gr out of her but the speers were not bad at all.

Anyway, it will be my new EDC and I would love some input on holsters. Pocket, IWB, or pancake? I would like to move away from IWB as that is what I have been doing with glock 23 and a crossbreed. At times it can be to much to lug around. I'm leaning towards pocket for summer and OWB for winter/fall. So if you guys could please post some pics and opinions on the best way to carry a J frame. Thanks!

My 940PC is carried all summer in a DeSantis pocket holster in my cargo shorts.

I usually pocket carry my 340 in a cheapy Uncle Mikes holster which is kinda odd as I have tried the spendy Remoras and other pocket holsters with no luck as they were way too bulky and took up too much room in my front jeans pocket.

Sometimes I cannot get away with pocket carry and thats when it goes into a Galco Ankle Glove which in my opinion has been the best 70$ I have ever spent.

But like the dreaded "what kind of gun should I get for CC?" Threads that has plagued the Firearm Forums for many years get what is gonna work best for your needs.

BTW I was not trying to compare you to one of those people it is always nice to get ideas as to what everyone else is using.

This time of year in a coat pocket and in the summer in my Motorcycle vest.

Inside the waistband. Best concielment option for me in all weather and under light clothing. Just in front of pocket. Most of the time I use an Uncle Mikes IWB fabric holster . They are not expensive and can be replaced often. Also they are less bulky and not as hot in summer as many others. Currently I am making one of my own design.

I carry my model 60 in a DeSantis Summer Heat IWB. Very comfortable and well hidden.

Usually AIWB in a Alessi deep cover, occasionally RFP in a Galco Horsehide pocket holster.

In the summer, I pocket carry in my Dollar General cargo shorts. When the weather gets cooler, I usually carry owb. Sometimes I'll stuff my snubby in a jacket pocket. I make all my own holsters.

Clipdraw. Yep that's right. I heard it all....you have to protect the trigger....it will fall down you pants....I've been carrying my 340pd for years this way and works out great for me. The best $16.95 I ever spent. Lets face it holsters are pain in the neck to put on and take off and bulk to the gun. On a J frame you beat a clipdraw. Other guns not so much.

For me my 642 is strictly a pocket gun with Uncle Mike's pocket holster. If I am going to hang a holster in my belt, it will be my 23C. Both have their roles and qualities.

I carry my 649 90% of the time in a pocket holster. For the other 10% I have an Alessi shoulder holster and an Alessi ankle holster. Between those three modes of carry there is never a day I don't have it with me.
