Empty Casings are now a reason for arrest?

I have a 155mm howitzer round at my house :D Jeez I don't even want to know what would happen if I would be seen with a thing like that in DC :D

Without making for another discussion for another day....It seems to me that the further west a person goes..... the more that common sense prevails....Glad I'm sort of located where the West begins..... just about anything west of the Missouri river.

I think New Hampshire is still a free state

Vote with your feet. Such regulations are "...something up with which I would not put," to quote Winston Churchill. If you actually live in such restrictive locales, I'd move to Arizona, Idaho, Montana or Texas, to name a few states that understand what the Second Amendment means, both literally and in spirit.

is forensics being used on every peice of brass? i cannot see why legally fired rounds are illegal. is this enforced for LEO's and Servicemen, homeland security also? if so im sure today theres a violation

Just remember that the fight is first in the ballot box and second in the courts. Every vote and influence that flees an "infected" state, is one less white blood cell to counter the disease. There may be a time for restructuring in the future, but for now the country needs voters with good information, rational conversation, reason and intelligent cognitive dissonance to offset the anti-2A propaganda. If we all leave... they win.

Xtasy,
Thanks for the info. Pretty close to the wordage here in MA. Any component of a bullet is considered ammunition. We don't have that "restricted pistol ammo" clause. I'm sure that is Black Talons or some other "dangerous" round or something with a scary name.

Retirement is coming and I plan on moving. Problem is this nonsense seems to be spreading to all corners of our country.

Regards

Not here in Yuma.....come to Desert Lakes!

Not be be a nit picker but we in the 2nd ammendment fraternity need to use correct terms or we are no better than the pols and media folks that constantly get it wrong.

A cartridge is made up of components. Those components for a centerfire cartridge are a case, primer, powder and a bullet. There is no such thing as "bullet heads", just bullets. As part of a cartridge, a shell casing is considered ammunition by most states (not saying they are bright) and is therefore subject to these draconian rules.

We have several boy scout troops that do camp outs at our gun club and we let them shoot on both the rifle range and the trap fields under our supervision. We used to allow them to take home an empty case or a hull as a souvenier, but since these laws came into being, that is no longer allowed.

Even a spent .22 long rifle case that cannot be reloaded and therefore is now just scrap brass would probably violate these stupid laws.

When I was a kid we used to pick up the shell casings after the Memorial day salute. This past year I watched them at the Korean War Memorial in Atlantic City and picked one up as a remembrance. So that act of patriotic pride is a crime in DC? Wow what have we become?

That is true in DC. I am military and my Wife is a Fed Agent. I was visiting my wife at her office when they freaked out about a 556 case I had in my bag in a pocket that I never use. I must have used it when we went to qualify. The shut down a whole door and here I am in Uniform with two uniformed officers watching me. I was so embarrassed. If it was not for my wife I would have been another news story.

Check your bags if you go into a DC building. I now have a DC bag and a field backpack.

THEY are the ones who should have been embarrassed. "We're so sorry and we know this is idiotic, but we aren't allowed to use any discretion or common sense. Please accept our apologies while we go through the motions as if we are actually doing something useful. "

I'm thinking that the real purpose of the law is to legally allow cops inside a vehicle to search for contraband items under the Plain View Doctrine.

A "throwdown empty" is the standard shakedown procedure on the Mexico side of the border crossing. They "discover" a spent round on the floorboard, or in your trunk, and seize your car, arrest you and introduce you to an attorney who will "straighten things out". For a nominal fee...
Why would I think D.C. Is any different?
