Time travel...

Well, kinda...

You would stop moving forward in the present continuum, and be left behind until such time as you resumed normal speed, at which time you would be restored into the time frame that existed then. The problem is that you would have no sense of having moved at all, since you never witnessed the time you lost by exceeding the speed of light.

The man had a good mind and imagination. I read several of his works when I was a teen, over my head. Later, astute.

Wouldn't you go backwards in time if you could exceed the speed of light?

Only if you can do so running north, barefoot along the west coast beach while doing some serious mind bending drugs. While bending time is not possible, bending your mind is.

"Safety Not Guaranteed" was a fun watch.

Another interesting topic would be, when would you travel to first?

Go back and get a vasectomy.;)

That's a done deal. Friday, March 13th, 1981. It's a real funny story and I've tried and tried to edit it so it would fit in here without getting me sent to banned camp. Just no way I can do it and keep the humor, the pathos and the terror.

If I could get a pass from the boss just this once.....:D

Time travel is an interesting possibility but I hold out of for alternate planes of existence.

In a similar vein, has anybody every contemplated what forever could be in both directions.... forward and backward?

If you really want to consider what 'forever' means, do a little reading on the age of the universe, the distances between various stars, etc., etc...it will blow your mind.

Here's an example: One light-year is about 5.8 trillion miles. The farthest galaxy from Earth yet discovered, dubbed MACS0657-JD, is 13.3 billion light years away (making it almost as old as the universe itself). Which means that, IF you could travel at the speed of light, it would take you more than 13 billion years to get to that galaxy.

Here's what that light-year distance looks like in miles: 77,140,000,000,000,000,000,000

Now then, if you were traveling at a more conventional speed, say, that of our Voyager 1 satellite (38,610 mph), it would take you 1,997,927,997,927,997,927 years to get there.

It's really too much for our minds (or at least MY mind) to grasp...

A while back I met an old guy in this tricked out Delorean and he offered to take me back in time. I said "Sure!" and thought about checking out the parting of the Red Sea, The JFK assassination, or Custer's last stand and bringing a video camera with me. Instead I went back to 1971 and bought a new Colt .45. Haven't shot it yet.

That picture really has the feel of a different time Wyatt.
I can almost smell it.

Something about the simplicity of the Colt SA is refreshing.

In the back of my mind....I want to pick up and handle a Fanner Fifty.

Before your time, but I bet you had one ;)
