Ruger SR 1911`s 45 acp.

Ruger = Solid+Dependable 1911

Good price too!

Nice looking gun without the silly two-tone stuff. I never did understand that and S&W has sure done its share of it so I am not just picking on Ruger. :)

Thank you Sir and I do agree. The 2 tone makes it look silly and cheap. Of course, this is just an opinion.

SR1911

The SR1911 is what I call Ruger Plus. This gun is solid, well built, flawless operation, uber tight action. Prices vary but whatever the acquisition cost it is worth every dollar. The 1911 oozes confidence in quality and performance. I bought mine sight unseen and no regrets.

I bought one nearly a year ago and love it. It's the only Ruger I've ever owned, … always wanted to buy one but had to wait until they found a designer with an appreciation for aesthetics - J.M. Browning. I have ~600 rounds through it with no problems. Very accurate. Well worth the $635 I paid for it at the time.

I sure wish they would bring one out in .38 super to go with my .45. As everyone has said, good solid guns, mine is very accurate.

about a year ago, i looked at a sr1911 and a para gi expert , about same price but the para had a slightly better trigger and i liked the business like appearance of the para so i got the para:( what a piece of garbage ! traded it for a win 97 and a fistful of cash.
a friend who bought the ruger is still happy with his purchase. i may still pick one up but the para kind of soured me on autos.

They're garbage. I can't believe anyone would waste their money on one. The design is old and outdated. Why not spend you money on a decent gun? Get a modern polymer gun, you'll be much happier.

1911s in general are worthless. They jam all the time and you have to baby them just to get through one magazine.

I figure with the love fest going on here someone had to post a negative comment. So what if I made it all up? They are not available in CA.

They are not available in CA.

Yes they are. Took a long time & it was an offhand remark I made on this forum that led me to mine.

Look here. It explains Kalifornistan's Single Shot Exemption.
Single Shot Exemption Explanation/Database Thread - Calguns.net

More FFLs are actually doing SSE & I've been hearing of gun stores that actually have the Rugers in the case. Cost ya more. I paid $800 total OTD for mine. I understand they can be had for $700 nowadays if ya get lucky. ;)

Yes, I'm aware of the SSE. However, the closest place that does it is at least 60 miles away. That's a 120 mile round trip that I'd have to take twice. Then, they charge $150 just for the privilege. Then they charge $50 for the transfer. So, do I want to pay an extra $200(not counting gas and time) for a $700 gun? Well, you can, but I won't.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The last guy that did that, at the closest place, was "delayed" by the DOJ. It took him more than two months just to get the gun. Then had to wait the additional 10 days before he could take it home.

No, I'll not be doing any SSE for a cheap gun.

Off topic but I loved my Para Ord P13. Worst sale I ever made.

You can't find the SR1911 in these parts though a pair showed up at the local Academy a couple months ago but I was too slow on the draw and they were bought out from under me. Of course they say they have no idea when or if they will ever get a another set and with Ruger's reported backlog who knows when I'll see them again.
