That is when Kmart still priced each package! :D

Kmart was the expensive place to buy ammo, but, I wanted to try Mini-Mags. ;)

I've got a 50rd box of CCI Blazer 158gr JHP of .357 mag with a sticker price of $12.95. If that means anything to anyone.

What I paid for 100rds back when

OK, I just had to take the bait! ;)

Here is what I found in my ammo box.
$2.88 and YES, note the K-Mart logo on the price tag. :D:D:D

I'm finding them at Walmart (on and off). $7.47 (100Rds) CCI mini mags. He's charging more than three times the amount than WM. Don't know if it's different from state to state.

Your WM prices are the or about the same as here.

I don't think I'd ever fire another rimfire round if that's what I'd have to pay to do it.

About 7-cents per round seems to be the going rate.

I bought 375 at Academy last night for $25.

Generosity on S&W Forum

Well my hat is off to a fellow S&W forum member that recently sold me five 525rd bricks of 22LR at $30/brick, or 5.7-cents/rd. And THAT included shipping to Texas from one of the coasts, and obviously no sales tax. Taking off my local sales tax rate brings the cost down to just 5.28-cents/rd. VERY reasonable during these panicked times.

THANK YOU! :D:D:D

I was PM'd with their offer, so out of respect I haven't shared their name, not knowing if they wanted others to know. Would hate to have them inundated with requests, if you know what I mean

Welcome to the new normal. The price of .22 LR has like everything else gone up. Its the result of a falling U.S. dollar and an increased international demand for various metals. As well, it is the result of manufacturers and retailers selling it for the most they can possibly get. These producers/sellers are companies with no regard for what is good for the sport. They only focus on the short term bottom line. If and when ammo production is no longer profitable, they will just shut down the plants, fire the employees and invest the capital in some other venture.

The "producers" have raised their prices but not like this! This is the retailer and maybe his supplier.

There is reasonably priced .22 out there. Just takes some diligence and patience. It would all be reasonable if folks didn't buy at those prices... or even half that.

It ain't food or fuel.

My local Walmart has CCI 100 rnd MiniMags for $7.89 and Federal 550 bulk for $23.

National retailers aren't charging more than before December 2012 with a reasonable cost of inflation bump. Minimags at Walmart last November were $6.97/100. Now Walmart charges $7.47/100. That's a reasonable increase. Also, last week I found 50 boxes of Thunderbolts at a regional farm/ag supply store for $2.29 ea. That shows the manufacturers are only passing on a reasonable increase for the cost of manufacture. The problem is hoarders stripping the shelves to resell a $2.29 box at $6.00.

I haven't seen 22 ammo at Walmart for many months. A group of guys seem to know when the ammo comes in and they buy it all.

I broke down and bought some from a guy on Gunbroker that was somewhat reasonable. About $28/box for Federal AutoMatch.

I'm giving one of my sons a lever action .22 for Christmas, so I expect we'll be going through ammo. My other two boys will want to shoot their guns as well.
