Who do you think the greatest living Actor is thesedays?

There are so many left from the last generation.
The oldest is Betty White before she eats a snickers. Right?

Clint Eastwood has made my day in action movies for decades. But him growing older has made me growing old with him. I watch his movies over and over for many years.

Robert Duvall one of the last greats.
Dustin Hoffman decent still great.
Gene Hackman one of the last greats.
Leonardo Decapeo can't spell it but he's ok. Average newbie he hasn't settled down for a great performance he's very good still to young.
DeNero one of the last greats.
Crowe
Hopkins
Bale
Jack Nicholson

I think the younger actors are rushed into making movie after movie. At a very fast rate. Actors are like fine wine it takes time for greatness. Too bad some don't hit the greatness till there 60yo. Some of these great actors are in there 70's now.

I'm a big fan of Anthony Hopkins.

Robert Duvall. No small roles... ;)

Is Michael Caine still alive? Pretty good in Blame It on Rio... :D

We are talking about acting and not political stances, right? It shouldn't matter who is pro what.

Penn
De Niro
Hopkins
Dicaprio
Depp (let's pretend the Lone Ranger was never made)

I think Eastwood is a better director than actor.

I judge performers on performance--talent, skill and versatility. I don't evaluate how an actor or musician does his job based on whether he or she is pro- or anti-gun.

If you don't agree with someone and decide not to support him financially by seeing his movies or buying his albums, that's certainly your prerogative. It's something I've done myself, a number of times. But that doesn't mean I can't admit that he's good at what he does.

Since we've apparently limited the scope of this thread to men, I'll have to nominate Pacino, DeNiro, Penn and Denzel Washington to the field. Hopkins, Spacey and McKellan are all terrific. Eastwood is even better as a director than as an actor, and that's saying something. Yes, Hanks belongs on the list. DeCaprio and Jamie Foxx will be up there soon.

But the best, most versatile actor in the business today, the one who simply becomes other people and is utterly convincing in any role, the one who can do any accent to perfection, is Meryl Streep.

I'll go with Eastwood. I like his western movies and have seen them many times and will watch them again. His presentation at the RNC meeting sealed it for me.

He is.

He and Sir Roger Moore are best friends (also added here) are often seen walking streets in London. My good friend Paul, lives in the same building as Michael Caine.

Eastwood, DeNiro, Pacino, Connery, Hackman, Gibson, with Clint and Mel distinguishing themselves as actors and directors.

I will also include my vote for greatest living stage and screen actor: Eli Wallach.
