What is a Good IWB Holster for CC of M&P?

For my Shield, I've used a Galco Soft Tuck and a Foxx Trapp kydex IWB. Much prefer the smaller profile of the Foxx. I have just a bit of extra fluff, as well. ;)

When I first got my Alien Gear it looked oversized and a bit bulky...it's not...looks are deceiving. Reason the this post...I agree with a prior poster...the belt is the foundation for a secure, comfortable and concealable firearm. Don't skimp...

Check out Lobogunleather.com. Ray is a member here and does outstanding work. Do a search and you'll find out from us members just how good his holsters are.

Does the pistol grip touch your back or side with the foxx trap? & if so, does it bother you while wearing? (just curious)

Another vote for Foxx, but I'm sure the others that are hybrid are close. I went for Foxx because of price (shipping is included), fast turn around time.

I would recommend the kydex J-hooks I use them and find I really like the draw.

If not the J-hooks then go for kydex clips so you can mold them to your belt with a hair dryer or heat gun.

Depends on just where it is located...I.e. 330 or 4 depends on where the belt loops are n my pants, which could force a slight move of my IWB.

No, it doesn't bother me. One of the reasons I bought the extended slide guard was to both protect my safety and keep the back of the gun off my body. I know it's not keeping the grip off, but related topic.

I also tend to wear some sort of undershirt, even a very light weight one.

I am budget driven. Looks to like you get a bit more for your money with the DeSantis. Added leather at mouth of holster for holstering/re-holstering and adjustable cant. Don't know about overall leather thickness. These are both for M&P .40 but not sure if they are available for a full size.

That's another plus of the J-hooks, it's doesn't matter where my belt loops are.

I bought a N82 pro and have been very happy with it, comfortable, gun is completely off you body and it has a retention system that I like.

I've been looking at this one as well, I like the single clip setup, and the full guard/pad as well. No one locally carries them so it's a bit of a leap of faith. Like the OP I carry some extra weight around, so anything that helps prevent digging into my side is a bonus.

I still prefer a dual clip set up as it keeps everything from shifting around. The single clip is great for a quick install if going somewhere, but for all day comfort and stability I prefer the dual clip setup.

I just wish the N82 Pro was available to fit an m&p with crimson trace laser grips :(

I also like Ray's holsters for IWB... Ray owns Lobogunleather and is a member here.

I recently bought an Alessi single clip IWB for my 3913 from a member here and I must say the leather work is definitely top shelf! This will be my carry gun fro the next couple days, in this holster to see how the Alessi single clip compares to my favorite Lobo IWB.... I'll report back with my thoughts!

Body shape, clothing worn, the firearm size and your desire can dictate the carry options you will find most comfortable. Some folks can tolerate the pressures in certain areas a carry method may impose and others may not tolerate it at all.

Most often I carry strong side IWB at about 4:00 with a dual loop hybrid. It allows me to carry a bigger piece comfortably. Presently that is often a double stack .45.

I use other carry methods as the situations dictates. For example, when I need a deeper carry option like attending a reunion, wedding or funeral, I may opt to use a single stack in a smartcarry or belly band to help keep things concealed for the inevitable close encounters. If I know ahead of time I will have to take the firearm off and on I may choose to use a single clip kydex or Sticky/Remora type of holster. While they are not nearly as comfortable to me for all day wear the like dual loop/clip hybrid, they are just so much easier to take off and on that is makes it a logical choice for those times.

While I think a single holster can work for many situations, I don't believe a single holster works best in every situation. If possible, try a few different styles of carry and see what works best for you. Give each method a fair shake by giving your body some time to adjust to it. In time you may end up with the box-o-hosters, but that is how you learn the ins and outs of what works best - for you.

Lost Lake - I am anxious to hear your comparison of single vs double clips.

I wore my AlienGear IWB about 7 hours yesterday. I wore it with a long shirt tail out as I didnt want to mess with tucking (I haven't developed that skill yet :) ). It is very comfortable but I would like to find a single clip tuckable (requirement for me) for quick trips.

I bought this one

The Insider® ? DeSantis Holster

Couldn't find one specifically for the shield anywhere in store and didn't want to wait 4 weeks for one to ship. The guy in the store told me he had sold a few of these to shield owners and the fit is absolutely perfect..also covers the safety. Paid $20 for it.
