I think my "regular" belt is not fit for carrying anymore so I need to start looking for actual gun belts for both IWB and OWB holsters. I've found a couple of belts, but wanted to see if anyone just wears their belt without carrying..I work at a hospital so there is no way I can carry, but also want to get used to wearing it. OH and if anyone has any good experiences with their belt, shout it out. I'm finding good reviews on some cheaper ones so I may get a tactical one and a work one..

I wear a Don Hume 1 1/4 black pistol belt as a dress belt.
A 1 1/2 pistol belt holds up my jeans.
I haven't bought the garbage belts from department stores in decades.

I got a belt from www.thebeltman.net , and I got several surprises. Not only did it support my holster properly, but it made a minor back problem go away. Also, my wife liked it, and it doesn't look like a gunbelt. However, as stated before, it did not clear up my psoriasis.

I immediately ordered another for when this one isn't perfectly pretty, because I wear it daily, whether it carries a holster or not (I sometimes pocket carry). I also ordered another one 2" larger, for occasional IWB carry of an autoloader.

I guess this is a recommendation of thebeltman.

Check out: www.wilderness.com and look at their instructor belt for different options in a nylon belt. They are not leather, but work very good when carrying a firearm, or when you are not.

Check out Bullhide Belts! Their selection is extensive. And reasonably priced. Made from 14-ounce bullhide and about 1/4-inch thick. Buckle selection, pattern selection, and varying widths (I just ordered one in 1.75-inch width). Belts come with a 3-year warranty, and delivery is usually within 8-9 days, but you can get it quicker if you want it. They also have fancy leathers. Check 'em out.

I have two gun belts. The one I wear with jeans is a 1/4" x 1 1/2" solid one piece bull hide belt by Wright Leather Works. I think their price of $49 is a great price compared to most others. I also have one of their holsters. I would not hesitate to wear it without a holster if I needed to.

For shorts I like the look of The Wilderness Instructors belt in 1 1/2". I chose the one with five rows of stitching it works as well as my leather holster in supporting my gun and holster. I would also wear this without a holster if need be. This belt has gotten a lot of good reviews.

I have a couple of Mitch Rosen dress/gun belts. I wear hem all the time even when not carrying. Tim Thurner also makes a great belt. All of mine are 1.5" in width.

All depends on what you're tryin' to hold up. A 9 ounce strap leather belt does a dandy job of holding up my snubby in my homemade pancake holster and keeping it tucked into my side.

I wear the 9 ounce belt whether or not it has my snubby hangin' on it.
For something bigger I made a double layer leather 1 1/2" belt. It's 1/4" thick and holds up a 4" 66-3 in a homemade matching holster.

I Don't carry the bigger gun much.

I bought a 1.5 inch "gunbelt" a couple years ago when I decided to try a popular hybrid holster. It did the job, but just looked like, well, you know. The color was a little off and the edge was unfinished and a little fuzzy.

Last week I decided to treat myself to a beltman belt and I am impressed. It looks like a fine piece of leather should look. Good color, nice shine and the edge is so well finished that you can't tell that it is a double layer. Every bit as stiff, but slightly thinner and doesn't look like an old chunk of conveyor belt. I ordered the in stock "quick ship" belt and had it in less than a week.

Price was the same, the quality was night and day different.

I wear Matt DelFatti or Milt Sparks belts every day. These are heavy belts, but quite comfortable.

Snubbyfan GREAT point!!! I hadn't even considered that. I will be carrying a Shield 9mm, but im also going to look at all of the other suggestions too!! Thanks for the help everyone!!! Great forum here !

well I decided on the wilderness systems easy fit belt with 5 stitch and 1 3/4 width. As soon as I get it in, I will write something up although I think a lot of people have them

I wear that same wilderness belt every day at the Sheriff's Dept. It holds my gun and radio just fine.

I have a wilderness / instructor nylon belt. A velcro inter / outer competition belt for matches. But I still prefer a good 1.5 inch wide, 12 to 14 oz. leather belt for everyday wear, carry and matches.

Superbio Belt

I have been using this Superbio belt from Bullhide daily for 4 years. Thin, but just as stiff as thick leather. It looks like brown leather but very tough. Still looks like new with no change in shape
Just my 2 cents. YMMV

I wear one of these every day, the 1.5" double layer belt is comforting and comfortable to me with or with a belt. Personally like the way they look and they hold up a ton better that anything store bought.

One thing to note is that I've had a lot of non gun folks buy belts, almost a surprising amount. The one comment I get more than any other is "I thought it would be too much, but I love it." Get yourself a nice one and it'll last a really long time!

Without the hatchet of course :)
