I apologise in advance if this thread is in the wrong forum and understand if it gets pulled, but I would like to hear your opinions on a current situation I found myself in.

I do a lot of offhand target shooting in leagues and as such like to take the Anschutz and try for that elusive 100 on a match card. All that pressure and seriousness is periodically interspersed with the "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" factor of the M&P 15 22. So one night sitting at home bored I decided to make some targets to take to the range to entertain myself. Short on printer ink I decided to draw myself some of these and scale them to make a very difficult 25yrd 22lr target.

I had great fun and mainly 'saved' the hostage, handed a couple of cards out to others there who also thought it a bit more fun than shooting at a numbered circle. I threw them in the recycle box and thought nothing more of it.
Then at a recent committee meeting, the same cards I shot were pulled out by a 'prone' rifle shooter who rattled on and on about how they were inappropriate and called on the committee to frown on such activities. While the club holds no such 'rule' all the 'greys' agreed with him...barring the exception of the wild boar cards 'they' like to shoot.
So I was thinking of printing some of these out as a compromise

Seriously though what are your opinions on these types of targets I am sure the difference in opinions from either side of the pond will differ but I am interested in what you guys think. :)

My uncle has a large partially wooded farm that I like to shoot at, where it's just open land with a safe back stop and no worry of upsetting neighbors. I've thought about how much fun it would be to try to find a used mannequin from a department store to stick out in the field and shoot at. Guess the guys from your club would put me in the same boat as you! :) For what it's worth, my wife thought it was a bad idea too!

Right on, we should start our own club  I was left baffled and a little bit insulted by the whole thing. I guess shooting MUST NEVER be fun. I suppose I'd better delete all the FPS from my PC whilst I'm at it. ;)

I see your in england. As bad as PC is here from what I have read its worse over there. So its no surprise. Here if your kid took the targets to school it might be expected. Doesnt bother most of us I would think.

Personally.......

Personally, I don't use any targets depicting living things, BUT THAT IS MY BUSINESS. If someone wants to train for SD with targets like yours, they are free to do what they want. Paper is paper. I've thought that for SD training it would be good to have the target perp at different angles rather than face on in order to be more realistic.

Call PETA on their old tails for shooting poor, defenseless pig paper.
Or buy them all one way tickets to Memphis, Tn. or Chicago, Il.
The ones that make it home alive will be begging you to sell them a few targets.

I like your targets.

Looks like fun to me, which is the reason I like shooting in the first place.

From what I've read, the gun culture is much different in the UK. I doubt those targets would cause much of a stir here in the States, other than many "Where can I get those?" inquiries.

If I had a club, we'd be shooting those awesome cards.

The originals would be better received here than your ducklings and kitten. :D

You'd have the animal rights people here howling for your head on a pike.

I thought the art work on the hostage targets was quite good.

at the end of the day, its a piece of paper not unlike any other.
an objection to such indicates that the offended might have a little trouble differentiating between simple print and reality, leading me to question his stability and fitness to own arms

Awesome , going to try something the same a the range I use lets see if I get any grief.
We do have the targets of a bad guys to shoot at like one with a rag around his head, to tell the truth I was surprised at it, but it has been there every time.
