Keep me in your thoughts tommorrow UPDATE FRI NiIGHT

Perhaps you and the Mrs. need a couple of those nifty "CCW badges" Hillbilly77 was pushin'. Prominently displayed they will scare the most ardent criminal into immediate submission.

Best of luck, at least this is happening in the deep South, where such people aren't regarded as mis-understood folks who just need a hug.

So far as your trial, while it may be professionally disappointing and/or a 'learning experience', as previously noted, you won't be the one in the stone motel. Would it help to keep reminding yourself that everyone is entitled to a defense, no matter how guilty?

Oh and I'm getting my *** handed to me in MY trial.....
All in all a perfect capper for a lousy week.
Actually, maybe it will be a GOOD week, for YOU.

I gather that you generally play for the defense. If that is the case, you can still take pride in having done your best to present the best possible case for your guilty client. When the jury speaks, they will have done their best, and the judge will make sure that the story has a happy ending. The jury will be happy, the prosecutor will be happy, the victims will be happy, the judge will be happy, and you should be happy. Your client and his "family?" Well, if you're not pissing someone off, you must be doing something wrong.

Hope the above applies to your case.

Well, we'll find out Monday at 1:30......Closing arguments were submitted yesterday afternoon around 5 and the Judge took it under advisement to review all the evidence. Waived the jury on this one-wayyyyy too brutal. If we had a jury all the da had to do was show one picture of the dead 4 year old and rest his case . I'm hoping for a manslaughter verdict, the DA of course wants GAC-first degree and the client is hoping for an acquittal so I guess we'll just wait and see.......

Friend of mine who's a lawyer said:

"Defending the innocent is the most difficult emotionally, but defending the guilty is the most physically threatening."

But one of my employers was a prosecutor up in Dallas,(sent three men to the death chamber) and she said "jimmy, I'm not worried about his friends,I pay you to worry about 'em."

thanks a million......

Heres wishing you and your wife stay safe. And after visiting abita brewery last year a fan of abita.Have another abita for me and stay safe.

Good news is your just about done with the courtroom time on
this one and you'll be able to pack again.
Just in case a crazy family member shows up while you are lounging
around in your velvet robe, smoking a 30 dollar Cuban, and drinking
your 25 year old Scotch.

Just found the case online. Behind the 8-ball doesn't cover it.

Best of luck

Wishing the best possible outcome for your case, Gary, and praying for the safety of all concerned. About this time last year the wife and I were planning a trip down to that neck of the woods (or bayou as it may be), when she got her cancer diagnosis, if she gets a long enough furlough from chemo we may try again in October. Any advice you have on things to see (or avoid) would be helpful.

Good luck

JUSTICE !?
Do what you do and do it as best you can.
Percy Foreman defended a man who shot his brother-in-law in front of the bank in Corrigan, Texas one saturday morning in 1954. Emptied a 30-30 into him because he beat up his wife. Percy got him off--I went to the trial--and was asked by a reporter from the Houston Post if Percy ever had regrets about defending so many people like this. Percy said JUSTICE? Ask him, he works for me now.
Blessings
