My wife and I have a friend who has been feeling bad for some time now. Things began to get worse in the last couple weeks and she visited the ER a week ago. They did some tests and found nothing wrong that they could see. She endured another week of pain and went in again. They did more tests and came out and asked her if she knew she had pancreatic cancer. She was shocked to find out and they told her it had spread to surrounding organs and was considered stage 4. They didn't see the need to admit her, gave her some pain meds and sent her home. They told her she maybe has a year to live. She's getting a second opinion but the situation doesn't look good for her.

Apparently, in the case of pancreatic cancer, when you start feeling symptoms it's too late for successful treatment.

Prayers would be appreciated.

Cancer is a scourge. Prayers for those with it and their loved ones, and for the researchers looking for the cure.
I just found out one of my neighbors has Mantle Cell Lymphoma, a very rare cancer, even amongst the rare cancers.

Wife of 40+ years came down with cancer and died in less than three weeks. That was four years ago. Best friend has been fighting his for years. I am glad my wife didn't have to go through what my best friend is going through.

Prayers from Pittsburgh for your friend and yourself. My father was diagnosed with PC approximately 2 years ago. He was constipated and woke one night with bad abdominal pains and went to the hospital. He no sooner got there and "went". A doctor decided to do a sonogram I believe to look for a blockage and saw shadow on his pancreas. The biopsy came back cancer. He's had chemo, surgery, more chemo and radiation, and I am happy to report is alive and doing a lot better than other 83 year olds. His oncologists told him that by the time you exhibit any symptoms it probably is too late as it has spread. Dad had nothing. Just dumb luck and a good doctor that very easily could have cut him loose. I don't know where your friend lives but my Dad, my family and I have only good to say about the Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh and his doctors. I thought Christmas 2012 was going to be the last we would have with Dad but thankfully I was wrong. Pray and consult with the doctors. Miracles happen every day. I hope your friend has one.

It got my Mom. Admitted on Sunday because she was too weak to climb the stairs. Diagnosed terminal on Tuesday. Gone the next Monday.

My prayers for you and your your friend.

My thoughts and prayers are sent out.

Another cancer like that, in that when symptoms appear it's likely in stage 4, is esophageal cancer. Usually surrounding organs are involved when it gets discovered.

Prayer from Texas for your friends well being as much as possible. This a terrible disease and she has a difficult road to travel. May her path be smooth. Miracles do happen and I hope she has one.

This hateful cancer is what took my Dad. Will keep your friend in my
thoughts. At the time my Dad had it, 25 years back, there just wasn't
any thing much they could do. I hope things have improved.

Not Pancreatic, but I am fighting stage 4 prostate cancer. Candles will be lit for her.
In the meantime, do not offer to help. Just go do it. Mow the yard, split wood for the winter, paint the shed, rake the leaves, trim the hedge, take her to an exam or a treatment, pick up groceries from the store. Us folks will never tell you, yes, I need something. We don't have time to worry about that. There is too much else in our heads. Just find a needed task and do it. She'll appreciate that more than the words and phrases.
