MP Shield take down lever fell out

Same thing happen to me. Didn't take but a few minutes to figure out how to put it back in.

There are a couple of things here. First, pulling the trigger to remove the slide works, but could be unsafe. Second, what he missed in the video, and it's especially important for the OP, is the take down lever retaining wire.

There is a little wire that holds the take down lever in the gun. You can see it at 4:21 in the video in the left take down lever hole. If your take down lever just fell out, it's likely that your gun is missing this retaining wire/spring. Take the lever out and if you don't see that wire, call S&W and ask for one. They should send it right out at no charge.

My lever fell out with the gun fully assembled. What to do now? It's next to brand new.

Brought my new Ported Shield home from Cabelas and field stripping it. When I pushed the sear release down, it did not stop. It fell out through the grip. Also safety will not move. Sent it back to S&W and was told 6 to 8 week turnaround due to large backup.

The first time I field stripped my new MP Shield 9mm the take down lever fell out. After a few minutes I was able to align it and reinstall it. The link below demonstrates the alignment and install. (not my video).
