M&P 9C Holster Ideas

Getting an M&P 9C and would like ideas on RH OWB Paddle Concealable type holster. Something fairly easy to put on and take off, comfortable affordable, and RELIABLE. Use one of the ?plastic? type on my Para P-13 and does well for a heavy piece. Also ideas on mag holders (double mag).

Thoughts on what to consider - and possibly, what to avoid, appreciated.

I don't carry OWB. I carry IWB. If you decide to carry iwb, try a N82 professional holster. N82 Tactical
I love mine, it's sweat proof, doesn't poke me anywhere and is soo comfortable to wear.

Take a look at the Safariland line of holsters. They have a mounting system that can be changed from paddle to belt slide, etc. They have been in business since the 60's, quality holsters, major supplier of police duty holsters. Here shortly I'll be ordering Model 578 GLS™ Pro-Fit™ Holster they just came out with.​

My favorite holster from the five I have is the Fobus Evolution paddle.
It fits my 40C & full size 40 just fine. I carry IWB some times in the warm months but the Fobus sits at my side about 75% of the time year round. Will I continue to shop for holsters? You bet! There's always something better out there.

I've been using the Comp-tac paddle holster for several years for my 9c, and recently bought one for my Shield.

I have IWB holsters for my M&P's but my plan to buy pants 2-inches wider to accommodate them failed miserably. I ended up filling that extra space with me instead.

LOL. That's been one of my main thoughts as i consider carrying (have a 9c as well); i haven't had "hips" for decades since i was a starving wrestler and prefer nice loose pants that have some give for those times i maybe have a second helping at dinner. Cant quite do that while trying to hold up a holster as well.


Back on track, i am following this thread (others as well) to get ideas for my first holster when ready. Always good info posted on here.

The M&P9C is very easy to wear IWB. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend trying that route for concealed carry. Mine rides in a White Hat Micro Tuck, and has made it through road trips, going to the skating rink with my kids, and in business attire. The pistol really disappears in a good IWB holster.

I am a big fan of the Cross Breed, Super Tuck. It spreads out the mass to minimize printing. I bought one off-shelf for a G26 (larger Glocks on the same frame size will also fit) and found it to be a comfortable carry rig. I ordered one for my 9c with Combat Cut, which was a marked improvement on an already innovative design. Take a look at them. Remember that there are bargain-priced holsters out there that you can carry your gun in, but if you do your research and end up spending $80-100 on a good, custom rig, you will likely not be looking for a new holster that performs better later on down the pike. Milt Sparks also makes some really good gunleather. There are other great gunleather crafters out there, including Kramer, Rosen, etc; and some decent makers of Kydex gear.

Good advice. I've gone "cheap" on a few holsters only to regret the purchase and fill a box up with holsters that don't work right. Any of the above listed here are known to perform as described and offer good service if not to your liking. I prefer either a hybrid style or leather for IWB. Quality Kydex, such as Comp-Tac or Bladetech, is a must for "plastic" - you don't want the attachments or holster to break during a high-stress incident.

Also, don't forget a dedicated gun-belt! They make a WORLD of difference for comfortable concealed carry.

i carry mine in a n82 tactical pro. its got a suede back and a sweat shield in the middle and a really soft leather where the gun sits. i have carried mine in one for almost 2 years and it doesn't even have the slightest wear on the slide. very comfortable i sometimes carry over 8 hours a day and doesn't bother me one bit and most importantly it keeps my 9c dry in the summer months.

If you do decide to go IWB I'll second th N82 I've had mine for over a year and quit looking at others.

Again, thanks for the many recommendations. Got a Blackhawk Kydex paddle model from another member and a 2 mag belt clip holster by Blackhawk. As I do not carry but occasionally (probably more in the future with the way things are heading), this setup seems to work well so far. I have a VERY stiff belt that provides great support. I like the lock system that is fast and convenient in use - now for practice.
