THE ENEMY NEXT DOOR

Oh, and there are reports that ISIS has set up a training camp in Anapra, just West of El Paso and South of Santa Teresa, NM.

You know why that is one thing that I am not at all worried about? In fact, I'm convinced it's nothing but a paranoid rumor. Those jihadis wouldn't last five minutes down there before they'd end up minus their heads and other assorted body parts, for one simple reason: For the drug bosses, they'd be very bad for business.

The cartels are all about the money, and they are not stupid. They know that if there is one thing that will actually get the US government off its duff and have everything from SEAL's to Predators with hellfires disrupting their profitable business, it's any real indication that something is going on having to do with Islamic terrorists.

In fact, I kinda think that's what the people who are making up this nonsense are hoping for.

Declare the area +/- 5 miles either side of the border a clean zone. Bulldoze and burn all structures, defoliate regularly, declare as free fire zone for 24/7 autonomous drones (land and air) and artillery practice. Have only a few narrow corridors to allow border traffic like the Korean DMZ.

Annex Mexico, arrest the corrupt government officials, declare all out war on the cartels, start moving businesses down to our newest state!

I was thinking the exact same thing, just take it over. The good folks of Mexico would be forever grateful.

Keep in mind that there is a faction here that apparently doesn't want criminals under control hence "safe cities". They IMO would do everything possible to undermine any effort on our part to help clean up crime in Mexico. I will stop at this point to avoid getting into politics.

My family and I used to live in El Paso, and made frequent trips across the border to Cd. Juarez to visit with church groups, shop and eat at the many fine restaurants there - not to mention that you could get good booze at cheap prices.

You could not drag me kicking and screaming across the border now. Simply put, the police south of the border are NOT in control - things are totally out of hand and very dangerous. I'm not sure I would even want to live in El Paso again because of the proximity to all the madness. You can even hear the gunfire on our side.

I won't even ask the obvious questions, which would throw this into a political discussion.

Last time I went was sometime in ninety three.Went with four roommates from college--who wanted to go to boys Town in Reynosa. I was the only one with a car so,was the elected one to drive them there, but,I refused to park on the Mex side of the border.

Harold Coyle, the author of "Sword Point" and several other books did an analysis of the logistics needed to close the half of the border in Texas. More troops than the US has now in all of the services and reserves, sixty-five thousand truckloads of concertina wire and twelve million mines. That's a lot of pollution.
I won't comment further because I've been a good boy lately and I don't want to spoil that.

Russ

I dont buy that we do not have enough troops. You dont need a platoon every hundred feet.

So, those who say the fence is useless. What do you propose?

Declare the war on drugs a victory, legalize drugs, tax them and regulate them, sell through licensed shops. Take the profit out, treat drugs as a public health problem and label it rude and stupid. The American people look at a ban as a dare. Volstead Act proved that. For the money spent on banning, we could treat every addict, teach every possible user, and shrink the problem to a manageable level. Eliminate the cartels and most of the street gangs. Only the rich and really stupid would be able to afford it. Probably be able to lay off half the cops in the US. We all know the war on drugs is not working at all.

This is a huge problem and I suspect that most Americans are unaware of the severity or it or the fact that with every passing day we get further and further behind in getting control.

I can think of a solutiion, one that would succeed and could be done in one day but those that could git-r-done are not ready to commit to it...YET. Maybe when we have some new faces.......

We can't build the wall! Ever hear of the Great Wall of China?
The money we spend on illegal aliens could better be spend
on the wall. Would save money in the long run. Of course we
could build it We went to the moon. Foolish not to.

That would make the "Harvey Wallbanger" the national cocktail of Mexico.

Our best defense is the common knowledge amongst the cartel sicarios is "Texans have lots of guns, and they will shoot you!". I spend a lot of time in Mexico. What we know up here is nothing compared to what's actually taking place. Beltran Leyva is at war with Sinaloa, and with the new splinter groups like Nueva Generation and Templarios, they're all up against the Gulf cartel, the Zetas and whatever other bunch pops up whenever a strongman gets knocked off. You can't kill the snake by cutting its head off, it grows three new ones.
The internal states like Michoacan are totally under the control of the cartels, and have taken over the farming industry. The production of heroin and transshipment of chinese meth have begun to overshadow the marijuana trade, and Guatemala is total chaos. As far as ignoring the reality of Arabian/middle eastern terrorist presence, the cartels have established ties for weapons and heroin through Venezuela, and the child slave trade to Arabian/middle east is big.

Chief, I'm trying to find the link, but a couple weeks ago I saw an FBI report on the cartels and heroin.

Ohio leads the country in heroin deaths. There are five Mexican cartels vying for territory. Cincy, Northern KY, Columbus, Youngstown and Cleveland are being strangled with addicts and heroin/meth related crime.

You could build a wall, a moat and a mine field and it would still find a way in.

It's all about the Benjamins.
