My only opportunity to buy Collector Grade gun books locally evaporated when the guy who used to bring them to the Berea gun show stopped coming several years ago.

I hate to buy stuff online because it can't be delivered here, and instead has to be sent to a friend's office.

But it's Christmas, I have a real job for the time being, and I haven't bought a good gun book in a few years.

Which Collector Grade book should I get? I already have:
  • The Devil's Paintbrush
  • The Grand Old Lady of No Man's Land
  • The Sten Machine Carbine
  • the original Thompson SMG book
  • Sturmgewehr!
  • the first two volumes of the .30 Browning MG series
I'm mostly interested in machine guns and handguns.

Any suggestions?

If your interest is in MG's I would suggest "Death From Above" {book on FG42} or "The Belgian Rattlesnake" Both are great, but that can be said about all Collector Grade Books.

I'm a big fan of the Lewis Gun, so I was already leaning toward "Belgian Rattlesnake" as one of my picks.

I see they've got a new book on the N and X frames:

Serious Smith & Wessons: N- and X-Frame Revolvers by Timothy J. Mullin

Has anybody seen it and have an opinion?

I just ordered:

  • Serious Smith & Wessons: N- and X-Frame Revolvers by Timothy J. Mullin
  • Colt's New Service Revolver: A Particularly Strong, Heavy Weapon
    by Timothy J. Mullin
I may buy one or two more, so I'm still interested in recommendations.

Get the original:

Thompson Submachine Gun
by Roger A. Cox

I don't know if it qualifies as collectable or not but "Sixguns" by Elmer
Keith is definitely worth owning.
I've had a copy for years.

I'm specifically interested in books from the PUBLISHER "Collector Grade Publications". I can no longer get them face to face here, so I have to order them and have them shipped to a friend's office. It's a big pain, but worth it. They're the best firearms books published today.

It's odd you never see or hear much about the FG42. I think it was one of the most innovative small arms ever.
