My wife joined a "armed female group" at a gun club about 40 miles from where we live. It's totally females with CCWPs and female NRA instructors/ROs. They hold classes in law and other CCW type subjects and also shoot.

My wife who had her permit since 82 finely got more interested in shooting rather than just being a gun owner. She got her CCWP due to New York's idiot gun laws to protect my investment in case something (death) happened to me. That way under certain circumstances no official/LEO could confiscate the guns. Stuff like that did happen way back when!

She got a new Ruger SR .22 but I had to return it to the factory last week.. She needed a gun so I have 5 of mine on her permit she could legally use. I taught her to shoot my 34 4'' as it was easier for her to continue with using .22s

She came back from a meeting with the group and they told her they do not like members using revolvers to get another semi auto until her SR22 comes back.

The way the pistol permit system in my county works who knows when that could happen. So as my Indian .380 was on her license I got her comfortable with it and she is going to take it and a couple boxes of lead hand loads and shoot tonight with what I consider "her elitist group":p

That soaps big time. My business partner/girlfriend took a Womens Self-Defense class last summer and used a .38 revolver and did fine. Better than the women that had no idea how to deal with a malfunction on their semi-autos. She did have to have 3 speed loaders. I plan to take the same class this summer and will use my Mod. 19 or 66. Both instructors are LE and started their careers with the Mod 66. so know they will be fine with my choice.

Did she ask why?

Seems like that is a good question to ask when some elitist group says, "We don't like revolvers", "We don't like pickup trucks", "We don't like Daisy Dukes", whatever.

She did not ask, I will see if she will ask! Most of the group is younger, and it appears about 15% are LEOs.(all different departments and jurisdictions) I tend to think its because they do not know or understand the "Old Fashioned" Circle Guns.

I see that at the LGS most of the new shooters (both sexes) are now so conditioned to seeing bottom loaders they just migrate to them.

I just recently private party purchased a pristine Cobra .38 and as the deal had to go threw a LGS to "get on the record" it attracted a lot of looks and a couple comments by the people in the store. FWIW that store has on hand and sell much more Autos than revolvers.

As far as my wife's group their women, not much more can be said!:D

Have them contact me if they have any of those "good for nothing" revolvers they want to sell. I'd even consider buying their husbands revolvers - they don't need them any ways.

Is it about them not feeling confident of her using a revolver or her not fitting in their group not having an automatic?

I'd look else where for another GROUP!

From what the wife said they welcome her warmly and the group is very easy going. For whatever reason their not cool with revolvers. Like I said quite a few are LEOs and they make up the majority of instructors and ROs. My belief is they are just more comfortable & know more about. autos.

This is the peoples republic of NY finding another gals group might be difficult. This gals only group is 40 miles away the next closest we know of is double that distance! I have a range on my property, but she enjoys shooting with the girls.

Heck I tought her how to shoot the revolver safely. She is not a menace around guns. Years back I was a former NRA instructor and we also instructed on combat and PPC shooting at my club in the past.

Three of my favorite things right there
