No revolvers wanted!

I would find out the reason before getting argumentative. It's nice to know that there are groups like that available.

I talked to someone a while ago who took a defensive shooting class from one of the larger outfits offering such (details escape my memory now); he was put in a revolver-only class because the large majority of clients used autos and the standard curriculum contained so many significant pistol-centered aspects like reloading and clearing stoppages that they apparently decided not to have revolver-armed people in the mix.

So there may be a perfectly rational reason.

Probably too much engineering in a good revolver, and they just can't figure out what makes that cylinder keeps spinning and coming back around to the same place. Besides a gal could break a nail pulling those empties out of the cylinder. LOL

My real guess is just plain ignorance of what fine weapons, many revolvers are.

Have your wife explain to the women, that a revolver has a rotary magazine and fires one shot with each pull of the trigger.

Just the same as a semi auto.:)

With some revolvers holding up to ten rounds it's hard to imagine what the reason might be.

Lake sider,

My club (in Saratoga County) just had a "Well Armed Women" chapter rep show up at one of our meetings to ask us what we would do for her group (40 to 50 women shooters). We responded we have Steel Shoots, Bulls Eye, CCW Classes, etc and they were welcome to join, she said they were only interested if no men can participate

We asked her how many of our club (1200 + members) were in her organization she said at least 6 maybe 8. We told her if they want to run any event, as members they can invite a group in after approval by our Board.

Her response was, "Oh, they want you guys to do it." We were all scratching our heads at that one - they will do nothing, although they go to a nearby club for their monthly meetings, and pay a rental fee to use that range, while ours would be free to them and their guests.

They only want women only events, at the present time all of our Range masters & RSOs are men.

They probably want semi autos because they want everyone following the same commands and procedures, its possible their "instructors" never handled a wheel gun.

Unless it's a hard and fast RULE prohibiting revolvers, once your wife has "bonded" with some of the group, get her to take the Model 34 with her one day and offer to let the other girls try it out. I predict converts will be forthcoming. Just sayin'.

To answer your questions

Did she ask why?

Seems like that is a good question to ask when some elitist group says, "We don't like revolvers" Pulling the trigger with a moveable hammer is a problem, "We don't like pickup trucks" You can look in my blouse from that high seat, "We don't like Daisy Dukes" You have thunder thighs and fat cheeks, whatever.

My answers

So, Engineer, you don't like DA bottom-feeders? Beretta, Walther, Makarov, SIG, Smith - the hammer on all of them move when you pull the trigger.

1911s only?

The only possible issue I can think of might be muzzle control during reloads. Charging and reloading auto pistols can be done with the muzzle pointed down range, it's pretty typical to have the muzzle pointed straight up or down for a revolver reload....which might draw the ire of some range masters. Had it happen, once.

Boys are icky.

I'd like to know their reason too. Makes no sense to me as I've found that most of the ladies I know prefer wheel guns due to their simplicity.

But then, is there one man on this board who can say he understands women?

I understand Women !!
The woman is always right and is God's gift to men
