PC Model 41 grips for a standard model?

I will be picking up my first new Model 41 later this week and the only change I anticipate making to the gun is to replace the laminate wood grips. I know there are a number of after-market sources for custom grips, including some good looking Hogues, but the grips that really attract me are the ones on the New Performance Center Model 41.
Now don't say I should have bought the PC gun, because I am a traditionalist and I don't care for the integral rail and skeletonized front sight.
So, what are my chances of acquiring a set of the PC grips from S&W? I've sent an email to sales/customer service explaining my dilemma a week ago with no response.
Any suggestions, ideas or comments appreciated.
To further complicate things, I live in Canada and a lot of retailers just can't be bothered with the hassle of shipping internationally.
Thanks

I suggest getting a hold of Thom Beckwith on this Forum and talking with him on grips period. I suspect he may be able to assist you in this area.

I asked S&W about the possibility of buying a set or sending in my set to have the S&W logo cut into them and was told no to both questions. That answer came from whoever answers their email, and it's always possible someone else with factory connections can get things done that don't normally happen. If you get a hold of Thom, please let me know via PM what he tells you.

ok, those are about as close as I've found so far, actually I just noticed the newer PC guns are a new design grip. The walnut ones were close to the previous PC grips when I got them. Keep us posted if you find the actual PC grips...

Not only that, but they also have the S&W logo cut into them. Very nice looking!

PC grips

The gun has arrived home and I am must say I am very pleased with the fit, finish...and yes, even the grips. They look better in person than what I saw when the dealer sent me some pictures before I ordered it sight-unseen.
Tom Beckwith did get back to me with some helpful suggestions, but bottom line is I can't order the PC grips from the factory.
Before pursuing any alternatives I have decided to keep the original grips on the gun. They fit my hand very well...and I am getting used to the look. Thanks for all the input.

I also have a set of Rosewood grips on my M46 at the moment which are very attractive but personal taste wise I like my Brown ones better. They are on my M41.

I just read that entire thread. Beautiful grips. I have sent an email requesting PC style grips for the M41. I will let you know if I have any success.

As I stated previously, I did that already. Here's a copy of the reply:

Dear Customer,

We would like to thank you for your e-mail and contacting Smith & Wesson / Thompson Center.

I believe that you are referring to the grips that are on the Performance Center 41. These grips are not for sale separately. Sorry. Nor do we cut logos into older grips.

Thank You for choosing Smith & Wesson / Thompson Center products. Have a great day.

Smith&Wesson values its customers and we are happy to have served you today. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Regards, Steve

However, who knows, if they get enough requests, maybe they will change their mind and make them available.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I know you didn't have any luck with S&W. Nor did I.
The email I sent today was sent to KSDgrips inquiring if they will make some grips that replicate the PC M41 grips that S&W won't sell us.
If I get an encouraging response I will let members know.

Are you sure? Take a close look at the S&W PC grips in post #8 above. I have a number of rosewood grips on different guns, and the grain pattern in the picture looks like solid wood to me.

The PC grips are laminated construction too, but they are a different color and checkering pattern, logo, etc. as you have noted.

KSD update

KSDgrips got back to me and says they don't make the grips I want. I suggested there would be a big market for such a grip and if they ever decide to make a grip that looks like the new Model 41 Performance Centre grip to let me know.
In the meantime it might help if anyone else interested in such a grip contact KSDgrips (member here) and ask for the grips. If enough people do they may just start making them.

I don't think he would mind as he works for the company and has promoted his products on this site.

Sorry that I misread your post! :o

The Model 41 grip is a pretty straight forward grip and would be easy to make. But looking at KSD grips, a thought strikes me. What if they are the ones making them for S&W in the first place? The wood in craftsmanship in some of their other grips is pretty similar to those furnished with the PC 41. In that case, perhaps their contract won't let them make grips for sale to anyone but the factory. Just spit balling here. :)

The same thought crossed my mind as some KSD grips look identical to the factory grips. Very nice workmanship.
However there is no harm in asking.
I will let members know if there is anything positive to report.

Positive. I have a 2014 production 41 PC. Hard to tell from side view but if you look from the rear the multiple plies are clearly visible. No complaints, I like the grips and the gun is a tackdriver and utra reliable to boot.
