Ace Hardware selling ammo

Don't forget the farm stores, Tractor Supply and Orschelns have ammo. Rural King has ammo and guns in most stores, lots of guns. Before we left the STL area Rural King's prices were better than the big box stores.

We priced the pistol my wife wanted at the 2 big box stores and went to Rural King, the prices were much lower, sale, on the Ruger LCP she wanted. She told the counter person to get her a new one out of the back and get the paper work ready.

My local "Farm & Fleet" sells ammo for about a dollar cheaper per box of 50, than my gun store.

Um, yes, may I have two bags of weednfeed (for my lawn) and 4 boxes of 9mm for my pistol, please.

Out the door one happy camper.

The local Ace here got back into the business awhile back. I remember when they were located right in Winchester coming down from some 45 miles away, you could still buy 44/40 right off the shelf. They moved out of town some years back. Today, they have plenty for reloading as well but all prices across the board are high compared to elsewhere. They also stopped allowing any veterans discount. I just don't need to shop there.
Was a day when you could get 22's by the round. 5 for a quarter. :)

My local ace sells ammo but it's about twice the price of buying online.

How many of us remember when ALL hardware stores were like this?

Even the local Sears and Montgomery Wards had a substantial inventory of just about anything you needed or thought you needed.

I found a copy of my 1970 Herters catalogue....what a trip dow memory lane that was. Everything is world famous and the finest you can buy!

Once upon a time in a land far far away both Sears and Monkey Wards sold ammunition and firearms. Sears firearms were labeled J.C. Higgins and if IRCC were manufactured by High Standard and maybe Iver Johnson. Don't remember Monkey Ward house brand. hardcase60

At least some of it was Mossberg; I still have 2 shotguns, and used to have a 30-30 which was a Mossberg with a different name.

I have fond memories of our "former" local Ace Hardware store. It had a gun department that did trading as well as new guns. Reloading supplies, and ammo for just about anything. Many of us would congregate there on Sat. mornings to view and new items or trade-ins. Bought many a S&W there. There is a sign on a vacant lot on a main route stating "Ace Hardware next year". Lets hope it's half as good as the old one.

Don't get your hopes up too high because it will most likely be $18 a box 9mm and $30 a box 38 special :D

My local Ace wants over $300 for a Ruger LCP. My local LGS has the same gun new for $199
