Going Where I've Never Gone Before - Beretta Model 70

I bought one from a coworker; 1972 Beretta 70S in 380 cal.
Magazines for the 380 very scarce and expensive. Guessing 22 magazines will be harder to find.
Later sold to my Sister in law.
Fun to shoot, similar to the Walther PPK/S.

Enjoy, Paul

70

i also have a 70s, but in 22lr. it is great fun to shoot. the gun had the thumb rest grips as required for importation, but brownells had some reproduction grips without the thumb rest, they look like your grips except the safety is like a 1911 so there is no hole for the push button safety and very good quality. magazines are hard to find but they are out there.

This one don't have thumb rests??
It's got flat plastic grips which say 'Beretta.' With the three connecting circles and arrows.
I should probably add - this one has the cross bolt safety.
What do the import marks look like?
I don't see anything that look like import marks.

I picked up one of these about 25 yrs ago...looks just like yours...flat grips, cross bolt safety, no import mark. Love it.
Been wanting to get a threaded barrel and suppressor for it.
Yours looks really nice. Thanks for sharing.

I can't enlarge thumbnail pics ON THIS BOARD and the mods haven't helped. But I THINK your gun has fixed sights? Those are uncommon in the USA and are the way the gun was used by Mossad agents. I've seen an instruction sheet on these, in Hebrew, on the Beretta board. I'm not Jewish and can't read it, but recognized it and the post ID'd it.

I believe that Israeli airline security men also used these .22 Berettas.

If you have the flat grips and fixed sights, you are very lucky. Not easily found here. Most imported .22 M-70's have the adj. rear sight and prob. most also have the big post-GCA '68 grips.

This is not only collectible, but a fine small game and plinking gun.

Among small .22's, I think it's probably the most reliable.

Good luck on finding magazines.

Get over to the Beretta board and see the value and any other important info. You don't seem as excited about this gun as I think you should be.

Good info.
Yes- fixed sights and flat grips.
I got 3 mags with the gun.
EBay Bidding on 2 more right now.
I tend to under state my accomplishments.
That allows me to do the same with my failures.

Great guns!!

I am also a fan of this series of pistols, though I no longer own these. I did trade the two in the back for a near new S&W 908, which my brother now owns.

This was the first handgun I bought. Probably in the mid-60's. Had the flat grips and fixed sights. Had the 3" barrel. Wish I still had it.

I have one like yours and a 70s. They are some of the most natural pointers I've ever shot. Original magazines are hard to find and outrageously expensive when you do find them. I bought four Triple K magazines and was pleasantly surprised. They worked great. Have fun shooting it.

I've owned several over the years in both 22 LR and 32 ACP with flat
grips, alloy frames and cross bolt safety. They are very good pistols,
very reliable and accurate for the type. As much as I liked them I
eventually traded or sold them because I just liked the older models
based on the 1934 design better.

Had one in .380 back in the early 80s for 4-5 years.......nice gun, easy to carry...... traded it towards my first Walther PPK/s...... to get hammer drop safety and DA/SA trigger for concealed carry.................

Got one just like Erich's, also in .32ACP though not quite as clean. Great little gun. I would really like to pick one up in .22.
