I just purchased a new M&P 9mm with a 4.25 inch barrel from Academy Sports. They had it on sale for 429.99 plus tax. I jumped on the deal as I regretted selling my previous M&P the moment I did it. Upon purchasing the firearm, the first weird thing I noticed was that the firearm came in a simple white cardboard box. Just to clerify I live in Missouri. So here is the list of the other weird things about the firearm.
- Comes with steel 3 dot sights that aren't white dots, but have a yellow tint to it, and turned out to be photo fluorescent.
- Has a mechanical loaded chamber indicator on top instead of the regular peep hole.
- The tool that holds in the palm swells has a lanyard loop hole in it.
- Has an ambidextrous safety, but there is a red dot beneath it when set to fire.
- The barrel as well as the slide are serialized instead of the regular frame serial number only.
- The slide has a US POL serial number as well.
- Feels like it has a bit heavier but more crisp trigger than previous models I shot and felt before.
- The firearm was bone dry with zero lubrication on it.
- The finish is different from the regular melonite, this one is less shiny and more of a flat finish.
I have included pictures, would appreciate any kind of info I can get. My guess is this is one of the actual pistols made for the US Military trials. Either way any info is appreciated, chime in let me know what you guys know. Thanks.
