Yeah I kind of like it. Had the OP done the lower like the upper, it would have been awesome. Still, it's kind of cool for me.
I don't know why people don't paint their AR15s. I understand why people don't paint their other guns. A black ar15 sticks out like a sore thumb it's a tool not a show gun. Good job

I'm just giving my own personal opinion. I don't want someone spotting me a mile off holding a black rifle if SHTF situation. I use rustoleum camo paint that can be stripped off to its original black color if I so choose. Why do special forces paint their guns?Well, if you aren't a soldier or a hunter, what reason would you have to paint your AR? My hammer is a tool too, but I don't paint it. My wrenches aren't painted either!
None of my hunting guns are painted either though. Most have wood stocks and bluing. A couple are all black, just like my AR.
My friend is a Dallas cop and tonight I saw him on the news standing watch at the airport with his AR. That black gun really stood out against his bright, high visibility yellow jacket... I'm guessing that is kinda the point!
Oh great, here we go with the ever-popular (and generally absurd & imaginary) SHTF "grey man" scenarios.
If someone is eyeballing you from "a mile off", you've obviously already been "made", and whether or not you goobered-up your rifle with a can of spray paint isn't going to alter that.
And, when they see that you're one of those guys that camo-up their AR15's, aren't they also going to make undesriable assumptions about that ??
"Uh oh, careful, boys, we got us a serious playa, here !!"![]()

Old sport but gets the job done ugly or not
I just used some sticks for stencils yeah done a lot better job on my SPR I just built.Hard to tell from pic, but looks like a tiger stripe pattern... upper and lower match... not bad.
I think some of us may be looking at the OP's work with the wrong eye. He said "It's supposed to be a Post Apocalyptic theme." in an earlier post... With that in mind, maybe it is more art, than camo?
Again, I don't care for his pattern or theme on my rifle, but he did do good work for what he was trying to do.
Much like I wouldn't want the metallic and candy colored paint scheme of a low rider on my daily driver, but I can appreciate the work and the art that went into those cars.
Play nice.
This is a good forum...
Uh never claimed to be a Special Forces Operator. Why would you assume because I paint some of my guns I think I'm an "operator"Special Forces would fall into that category of soldier that I outlined above. But since you brought it up, do you have the training of a special forces soldier? Do you know how to properly camouflage yourself and conceal your movements? A Krylon coated Sport does not make one an "operator".
And your SHTF scenario could be way different than mine. If I live in an urban area, I am more concerned with rioting and looting. In those types of situations, I'm not concerned with a guy "a mile away", but more concerned with the mob outside my door or fence.
