Congrats on a very handsome revolver!
I haven't seen too many of those. Nice! :)

I'd say those are rare as hens teeth...beautiful m.19...Hope I can own one myself someday.

Not a Rex firearms, but does letter to a Smith and Wesson rep. Group of some sort, don't know much about them, but the did take care of it.., no box but gun is in decent shape for its age .

I don't know whether earlier in your history letter this is explained, but I have a copy of a Jinks letter in my files for a 3" Model 19 where Roy explains that S&W produced the model in various barrel lengths, including 2.5" and 3", to test the market and in August 1966 decided on the 2.5" for regular production. With your gun shipping to factory sales reps in July of that year, it seems likely it was one of the limited number of "market test samples".

PS: It was. I just checked, acc. to the letter the test samples were between serials K622xxx and K623xxx, where yours also is.

Ah, therein lies the rub, that sweet looking handgun while being ideal for use as a SD gun, is JUST TOO VALUABLE. Value it, fondle it, enjoy it, shoot it, show it off at BBQs, but don't use it in an actual SD situation. Buy a cheap S&W 9mm Shield and keep that in your pocket.........

CIA officer Harry Archer took his to South America, where the humid climate damaged the nickel finish. His was the first I saw, in photos, in, Gunfacts, about 1970.

He also took a Model 60, which was not damaged and proved to be a delight.

Both guns killed a number of animals, and Archer told me in a letter that the M-19 impressed an ex-Nazi who hated Americans. His demostrations with the M-19 likely kept the German from attacking him.

Have you seen Doc44's 5 inch ? That one will make your heart skip a beat as well.
I like the pronounced pins of the early nickel revolvers. Do my eyes deceive me or does it have a target hammer/ trigger?

The thought that gems like yours are out there drifting through time and occasionally bumping into someone who appreciates them and shares them with others is amazing. It's like seeing a Unicorn.

I know I'll never own a Unicorn, but I'll think of yours whenever I shoot my Model 19 2 1/2" or the Model 66 with its 2 1/2" barrel. Thanks for sharing your amazing bit of Smith and Wesson Gun Lore.
