We all know that John M. Browning's amazing invention, the .45 Auto pistol, is simply one of the greatest machines ever developed. How many things from early 1900s remain in use virtually unchanged from the original? Only better steel and a few minor changes in ergonomics separate the early ones from todays "modern" 1911s. You can be a fan of Colt, Sig, Smith&Wesson, Kimber, Ruger and a dozen others and still have a 1911.

I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours! Two Kimbers, an old school Classic .45 and new 9mm Target II. And a sweet new Ruger SR1911. Love is a warm 1911.

Kimber Custom (Pre Series II)
Colt Government Series 80 stainless
Colt Commander LW
Springfield Armory Ultra Compact

And my newest just purchased yesterday;
Springfield Armory MC Operator

I have owned one other, a Springfield Armory GI. Nice pistol, my son has it now.

I can't post pics right now, I can't get photobucket to work for the last week or so.

Down to two but one of those makes up for it.

A RIA basic model that I had Heinie install new sights on.

My favorite is an Argentine Modelo 27, in 11.25MM. Looks like it has been dragged behind a jeep.. Fame slide etc is original, the rest is from Wilson combat. My most accurate 1911A1. Hard to believe that when I bought it they were going for $175 for a select grade..

I shoot it sparingly at my trips to the range
5 rounds at 5-6 yards with a 6 o'clock hold:
