How do you 1911?

I've owned a number of 1911's over the years, mostly Colt's. At the moment I only have four, plus a GSG 1911 .22 pistol. My first 1911 was a 1991A-1 that I got as a 21st birthday present from my parents. I still have it. My current collection also includes a 1974 vintage satin nickel Commander, a Colt 1911 Wiley Clapp Gov't, and a Remington R1. A Colt Competition Stainless 70 series is on the list to buy this year, once one turns up around here. A M1911A-1 Ithaca is also on my list.

My favorite. A Springfield "Loaded" model I bought new in about '03. Had a few upgrades done by ACW a couple years ago. I also have a Colt 1991A1 Commander and a Sig C3. I never even held a 1911 until I was in my mid/late 30's, but when I did it felt exactly like I always knew t would.

JH1951-

I like that your Argie ammo box is in the colors of their flag. Nice touch!

Those Argentine .45's are good guns, if not worn out.

Brazil also made licensed (?) copies, but all I've seen were marketed via Springfield Armory. I think Springfield gets them from Itajuba Arsenal, then does added work here, at least on the higher priced ones with custom touches.
Brazilian were made by Imbel. At least at one point. May have changed but regardless they do make a good quality gun

If you're gonna "only" with a 1911, you picked a good one.
Thanks! I wanted something along these lines. Not necessarily a TRP but it was one of a few I was looking for. Others were Colt, Dan Wesson and S&W. Problem was I didn't want to pay the $1000 + for a new one (TRP is around $1500). I waited till I found a used one with all the features I wanted...... essentially ambi safety and night sights. The TRP showed up in my LGS for around $700, had all the options so it was a no brainier

A TRP for $700 is a steal!!! Good for you! If I ever see one for that price, I'm going to snap it up.

A lot of guys don't like the 20PLPI checkering on the front strap. I think it's just fine.

I have had a few over the years but these are the two that I have now, a 1991 Government, that is the best shooting 1911 that I have ever had, and a mid 1970's Combat Commander in satin nickel that I am working out the kinks from it's past life.

I like 1911s, I've posted this pic of mine before. I should update it too, as I've thinned the herd a bit. Too many I never used and I needed to do a bit of fundraising over the past winter. I was hoping to have 45 by the time I was 45 but......I've still got 3 years to recover if I want to attain that goal.

This is my most often used one, an old Springfield Mil Spec. My guinea pig for my own amateur smithing, and surprisingly one of my best shooters despite everything I've done to it.
