Hugh Hefner.R.I.P.

A buddy, who was a member of the Boston Playboy Club, and I went there a couple of times for dinner. I always thought the meals were overpriced, but were well prepared.

The bunnies there weren't just eye candy. Some of them went to the Boston area colleges, and knocked down some good pay, enough to pay tuition and books.

R-I-P, Hef. I was entertained.

RIP Hef.
Weirdest Hef Trivia?
He will be buried next to Marilyn Monroe?
No, one is weirder.
In appreciation for his efforts to protect endangered animals,
They named a rabbit after him.
Sylvilagus palustris hefneri, an endangered subspecies of marsh rabbit, is named after him in honor of financial support that he provided.

I read somewhere that he had gone deaf?

I think he eventually had trouble hearing in one ear. This was supposedly due to side effects of using Viagra.

I think I read that in Holly's book, maybe in Izabella St . James's book. Both women lived with him for years as Girlfriends. I capitalized Girlfriends, as that was an official title for his main squeezes.

You can see interviews of Holly Madison promoting her book, "Down the Rabbit Hole" on YouTube. She is intelligent and articulate, has a college degree, but I forgot the field. Her pal Bridget Marquardt (sp?) has a Master's in either Journalism or in English. Izabella St . James is a Polish-Canadian with a law degree, but I'm not sure she's ever practiced.

I went to only one Playboy Club - in New Orleans, about 1963.....I think I had one drink and left. I was briefly a subscriber (just to read the articles of course)...

I don't believe you just read the articles and I don't believe you went to the Playboy Club just to buy a drink! :D

His magazine was a class act in the 60s and early 70s, then a longtime subscriber complained to me that it had become a Penthouse clone. I have known a couple of Playmates, even had dates with them, they all agreed it was not really a good career move. My mother noted that the one thing Hefner never achieved was acceptance, even after he moved to LA his parties never attracted real A-list people.
