warranty turn around time

Last month I sent a j frame in and it was 3 weeks round trip..I don't think every trip is the same, depends on the repair and workload at the time.

In February 2018 my 640 Pro went back for a broken hammer stud. It was 65 days door to door.

On another gun forum, a poster claims he called S&W just this week, about warranty work and was told 4 months. I'd assume this was a worst case scenario, but the poster was quite upset thinking he would have to wait that long to get his gun repaired. I'd guess it would depend on the problem and how much I needed the gun.

Sent 2 in Friday. Was told 4-6 weeks for warranty. Up to 4 months for performance center or non warranty work.

sent my 642 in(broke hammer pin) frame replaced 4 week turn around they paid shipping and transfer fee

3 months in the PC for me. the actual work took maybe an hour or two to fit a new hammer. the sub 1# single action break on my 460 I deemed too dangerous for anyone else to shoot but me.

I had to send a J frame back a few years ago and had it back in 10 days.

I sent back a 625 about a month back,it took less than three weeks. I have never had a problem with them.

I sent my 610-2 back last Monday, I really don't expect it to be back before mid August.

I had my hammer pivot pin break on my 60 pro a few years ago.
Is this a common problem?

I’ve had 3 internal pins break on my various J-frames...

The hammer pin on my Model 640-1 Pro Series, the hammer pin on an early ‘80s Model 60 no-dash, and the trigger pin on a Model 642-1.

My Model 60 was built before the lifetime warranty so the repair was on my dime and S&W did a good job and slicked up the action while they were in there.

The 642 was replaced under warranty. From what I gather they will generally just replace the aluminum framed guns instead of attempting a pin replacement.

I was initially informed the repair on my 640 Pro Series would not be covered by warranty! I guess they thought actually shooting the revolver somehow voided the warranty. In the end they covered the repair. As an aside, my 640 has been back to the mothership to fix fit, finish, and functional issues 5 times now... Only once for a broken pin.

So, I would say based on my experience broken J-frame pins do happen.

I sent my model 10 in to get reblued & polished back in early march. I received the quote for the work 2 weeks ago and promptly paid it. S&W said I won't get charged until the work is done. As of today i haven't been charged yet so I'm assuming they either haven't gotten to it yet or it's not finished. I'm hoping I'll get it back early next month. We'll see.
