Just went to browse the Armslist site and I cannot find how to search by caliber. I'm certain I used to do so. Is it their site or my browser?

I hadn't been on Armslist for a couple years until about two weeks ago, but I sure don't remember their search function being so poor. I use Chrome as a browser, but I don't think the browser is the issue. I put "44 magnum" into their search box, and in order, the first five listings I got were 44 magnum, 38 special, 45 ACP, 44 magnum, and 460 Rowland, whatever that is. Their internal search engine needs more than just a bit of work.

One of the search filter tabs on the right side of the screen used to say caliber. It's AWOL.

I found a "power search" via google, but cannot see a link to it on their page. Just another case of Web weirdness.

Under “category” they used to have revolver as an option. Now semis and revolvers are grouped together under handguns. I’ve noticed that when you do a search for a specific item, e.g. S&W .44 magnum, the random stuff that pops up is due to things being listed as accepted for trade or the dreaded “tag”, where you have these bozos listing a whole inclusive string of firearms for no other apparent reason than to turn up in most searches. The search looks for identical terms anywhere in the body of the ad.

Those features dropped off the radar a couple of weeks ago. Search function now really sucks.

You have to wonder if website change their search functions to up the "clicks". Can't have people finding what they want quickly, not good for the industry.

I know for sure the car site Edmunds did which is why I rarely go there. Recently, they decided to flush everybody's comment accounts. I'll bet the re-register process reads like applying for a government clearance to satisfy the hunger for personal data. Guess again.

I just listed a shotgun and I was surprised the ad only shows the pic plus title of ad and price. It didn't show any of description Armslist has seller fill out about the gun for in the ad. That was sort of a bummer to me. I am not liking that at all. Maybe I made a mistake in making the ad for submit but I double checked and it is what it is now.
Surprising I also have not received one email contact about the gun/ad either.

I contacted armslist support to ask what was going on. They replied in just a few hours. This is the reply I received:

We appreciate your email. We're sure you've likely witnessed the site being down and unresponsive at peak hours recently. There is an issue with the filter logic, and our team is actively working on it to bring that feature back as soon as possible. For now, we have removed the filters so that the site is still operational. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience, and thank you for using Armslist!
