MDL 34, does this make sense? Pics added

M29, are you talking abou the gun in the link I posted or Kobsw's beautiful 34 in the box?
I am off on a 4 day bird hunt. I will post some pics of the gun when I get back. Sorry, just have not had the time to take any yet. It is bird season and I have three pointers that demand almost every minute of my spare time when bird season is on.
Kobsw, that is a very nice kit gun. Thanks for the pictures.

In the link you posted, the subject at hand, which will take you to a photo-hosting site for a better look. The pics in Kobsw's post are nice, too.

Trust the demanding pointers are having a good season? We have almost no wild birds here so I can be sympathetic with them. Our local hunting is state-run put & take, and can be quite crowded. :o

The only time I was ever shot at by an American was at an Indiana put & take.

Which reminds me . . . lots of snow on the ground. Time to grab the snowshoes and my 20 ga side-by-side and go out in pursuit of white-feathered birds (ptarmigan). :)

My last bird dog died of old age a few winters back. I'm getting too old to train a new one, but there are pics of Brittanies all around my shop. Fortunately, up here a dog is not so essential unless you are hunting waterfowl, which I no longer do. :(

Come back with some birds for the pot! I have fond memories of the years I spent living in a state that had chukar in the dry hills and quail and pheasants to hunt in open fields. Chukar soup was so tasty!

Seems a little high to me as well....mine, in similar condition and similar vintage, was bought a couple of years ago for under $500.

Mine is a 34-1 from November 1980.

Best Regards, Les

Look again... not apples to apples.

There seems to be a "general attitude" (maybe not the right term) that rimfire .22 revolvers should be less expensive than centerfire guns; cus they're "just .22s".

That price matches up with the going price of a 6" Model 28 these days.

You have to remember one thing when buying an older S&W revolver. All the ones that ever will be made are already made. You will never be able to go into a store and get a new model 34 that is made like the ones from before.

These $700-$800 prices for mod 34s just seem too high to me. I bought
this 34-1 about eight years ago in like new, no box, condition for $350.
I replaced the original magnas with these but the originals aren't going
anywhere.

"All the ones that ever will be made are already made."

Sir. That is a fantastic saying/quote.
