Picked it up yesterday!

It is almost the same size as my P229, but it feels better in the hand and I like the more aggressive grip texture.
The Sig is about 9 ounces heavier, and except for the 'beavertail' they are almost identical in length.
After I got the P229, I replaced the standard trigger for the 'short reach' Sig trigger, which was more comfortable to me for double-action shooting, but the M&P feels perfect right out of the box, and I'm used to the hinged trigger from my Shield 45.

I'm taking them both to the range tomorrow!

I wonder how SIG managed to get a 0.3” longer barrel in the same space [emoji848]

I anticipate you will find the 3.6 to be an excellent gun. Shoots accurately and comfortably plus has good capacity. A quality gun straight from the box.

Did you compare width? My P228 looks FAT next my M2.0 Compact.

I'll have to take a pic of that. The M&P feels a touch thinner in my hand which is why I think I like it better than the P229 - and I had the 'small' grip panel on it. I like the slight palm swell of the 'medium' grip, but the 'small' fees better and makes it easier to hit the mag release without adjusting my grip. The Sig has that thick area where the decocker is under the top left side of it's grip

So I fired them both today. Nothing too methodical, just 10 rounds each of Magtech 115, 124, & 147 grain fmj at 7 yards. Changing the target each time. 1st the Sig, then the M&P. Then the next weight bullet with the Sig and the the M&P. You get the idea.

I have to say the M&P did better. Possibly because I like the shoot the 1st shot double-action with the Sig, probably because I wasn't trying to go too slow. But the M&P is a GREAT shooter. I wouldn't call it 'snappy' but compared to the heavier Sig, it had more 'snap'. For it's weight and barrel length I think it's actually pretty smooth.

Then I put the Sig away and fired the M&P two-handed without a rest at a larger square target at 25 yards, just to see how it would do. I was able to get most of the shots on the target with a few in or near the bullseye. Not bad for a quick unscientific test.

Next time I shoot it, I will use a rest and see what it will do at 25 yards.

The M&P is wearing the 'small' grip panel (which I like) and a full-size M&P 10-round magazine with the adapter sleeve - which lines up better with the finger extension on the P229 magazine). (Here in NJ, they banned the higher-capacity magazines last year  --- I already have the full-size 10-rounders for my SUB-2000)

The Slides are similar, but the Sig's grip is definitely fatter, especially towards the top to accommodate the DA/SA mechanism.
