Sorry I have soo little info and no pictures. Just looking for some kind of idea of value.

.44 triple lock, 7220, 5" - reblued but don't know by who.

One person told me $1000 and another person told me $4500. That's quite a difference.

edit - some pitting in the barrel

mrcvs can probably zero it in more, but OEM 5" Triple Locks are fairly uncommon. Unfortunately a non factory refin lops a lot off the value, the pitting if not severe, less so.

If otherwise nice, I'd guess in the $1600-$2000 range the way Triple Lock prices are going these days.( at least on the web)

A polished out refinished target went for over $3k recently. Mechanics were good though.

thank you - its a shooter for sure

I paid $1800 for a nickel Triple Lock with a 5" barrel last July off of the forum. 80% condition, languished on the forum for awhile, did not have the correct grips. Nickel is less common than blue too. I'd like to think yours is worth $1500 as reblued, but based on mine, and not refinished, maybe not.

Then again, sometimes Gunbroker brings out competing bidders with deep pockets. Should you list it there, if you are interested in selling, you might be pleasantly surprised!

On the other hand, it's amazing how little you can pay for a Triple Lock with condition in this day and age. Under $2000 still gets you decent to good or even great condition, and even a standard 6 1/2" Triple Lock can be had well used but not abused in the $1000 range.

Personal preference, but I would reach in my pockets a whole lot quicker for a Triple Lock with little condition a whole lot quicker than for one that is refinished.

Thank you very much. I asked for a friend and the $1000 seems right on.

For a shooter with a 5" barrel, the high end of "probably so". I might see if I couldn't get it for $800 to $850 or so.

They had a deal until another friend of the seller said it was worth $4500. Said he got the price off the S&W website.

I appreciate your input.

His friend needs to produce the S&W website and entry that he's quoting. Highly likely the gun IF IT SOLD FOR $4500 is no comparison! And more likely it wasn't a sold price, just an estimated value!

Assuming it's not a target model, and contingent upon seeing the refinish, I'm in the $1000 to $1500 range camp.

And that's if it has original checkered grips with S&W medallions.

The finish is "fair". Its been a shooter and will continue to be a shooter.

I have no idea where he found one for $4500. I guess he just assumed if one is worth that much then they must all be worth that much.

Well the seller will soon be disillusioned if he tries to sell his TL for $4500. Hopefully he'll come back to you, a serious buyer, after his lesson is learned.

As another comparison point, I paid $900.00 for this one back in March. I have removed the black corrosion and saved as much of the original nickel finish as possible. The mechanics are perfect, and it was clean as a whistle inside the side plate. Must of been stored and corrupted by a holster.

thank you -

The seller was told by a friend that her's was worth $4500.

Where some people come up with their prices never cease to amaze me.

My guess that the high price estimate was gleaned from Fjestad's Blue Book, but rather than looking at the standard model listing they looked at the special caliber listing which shows a 70% TL at $4,750.00.

Here are the before photos, I didn't include the stocks it came with which were ugly franzite fake stag I'd be to embarrassed....;)

I don't doubt that at all.

When she told me $4500 my eyeballs rolled right into the back of my head.
