Walking around money.

I'm a cash guy. Yes I have a debit card, but I'm just old school. My day to day carry is, 5 hundreds, 5 twentys, 5 tens, 5 fives. Am I goofy??

Only if you broadcast where you are walking around with all the money on you. ;)

And why not 5 $1.00 bills? Are you prejudiced against George Washington? ;)

Seriously, that's more than I generally walk around with, but I usually have more than $200 on me.

Today usually have +- about a hundred bucks. Hey you never know! Because I get money back I put most anything I buy on a credit card, so do not need much cash.

Many years back (60s till 80s) when this was still legal I always had a few hundred on me when I went to the gun club. Bought some guns and other gun stuff at some real good prices:D

Carry whatever ever makes you feel secure while you walking around.
But I didn't see any 9's, 45's or 357's in your daily carry .

Oh rest assured there is something else always carried!:D

I have not yet found a gun that would fold up and go into my wallet like money or Credit Cards will.

Well, I'm a hillbilly in a poorer area of the US. My "Carry money", $100, which I refresh every two weeks, totaling $200 a month. That is if, I spend my first $100, which I usually don't. So this generally works out to about $300 a month. Whatever I spend that money on, my wife doesn't get to comment. Now I am not crazy, so periodically I choose to spend it on her. That's okay, because I enjoy that as well. But it is nice to be able to drop a gun on layaway down at the local pawn shop at a moments notice.

No you're not goofy or crazy. I am old school also and always have about the same amount of money you mention in my billfold at all times. Just the way I was raised. I always resisted a credit card because I was taught if you don't have the money to buy it, you don't need it. As time went on I realized the need for a credit card and I do have one. The need for a credit card became apparent as a background check and as computers became a way of life to purchase items online and pay bills online. I still got to have my "walking around money" as my Dad called it.

I generally carry about $300 on average. If I get down below a $100 I am looking for a bank. Sometimes the deal is right now and I you can usually get a discount for hard cash. Places get charged a fee for debit or credit cards and places like pawn shops can hide the money from a greedy uncle. I got $300 of a car deal by going to get the cash cash.

I hate standing in line at the gas station while some guy pays for a candy bar and a soda with his card.

I'm a (former) city boy and that's pretty close to my habits. Except for gunshow outings $150 is Max "in pocket.". Joe

I have a lot of plastic but for small purchases like cash. Nothing frosts my butt more than standing in line at the (fill in the blank) behind a guy (or gal) who is buying $2.37 cents of whatever and they whip out the plastic! About half the time the first choice get declined so we start all over again with the with digging for a second card. Maybe works this time but they Have wasted several more eons of my life for their cup of swill! I also find that cash speaks loudly in many pawn shops and mom and pop gun stores. I often get a little break when I ask for best price, CASH. Saves them the 2 to 5 % card fees. OK, Rant over, Return to your normal activities.

I carry 2 pennies I rub together
Sure glad you have ‘em!

I try to keep a hundred or so on me, but that lasts me months. Useful for the occasional cash tip, or very small purchase. Usually wind up giving cash to my wife who uses it more than I do.

I use a credit card for just about everything, and rack up the points for travel. And, like many here, I always pay off the bill in full at the end of the month.

Got my credit card set up in my iPhone so at places that take ApplePay I do that.

I like the thin wallet, convenience, security, and rebate points that come with credit cards. I’d get cash if I were trying to buy at a pawn shop or gun show, but have not had either experience to date.

One of my uncles told me long ago that the surest way to double my money was to fold the bills. I always do before i put them in my wallet. Makes it easier to get the cash in and out of it too.
