Just received a nice CHP turn in 4006TSW, .40 cal.

Prior to getting this gun, I was pretty much done with 40 cal pistols. I never used one on duty since I retired from a state LEA in 1989 (just prior to the 40 S&W becoming popular). In fact, I was thinking of selling my SigSauer 239 that was a 40 cal converted to .357 Sig.

Took my (new to me) 4006TSW to the range yesterday along with my 239 with the 40 cal barrel. The TSW being a heavy all stainless steel gun, was a ball to shoot. Very accurate and functioned flawlessly. I then shot my 40 cal 239 and fell in love with it again.

I want to thank the forum members for putting me on to this great TSW pistol and keeping me from dumping my 40 cal guns.

My other 40 cal guns are a Mich. State Police 100 year anniversary Sig Sauer model 226 and a Sig 229 “Iraqi Freedom” commemorative gun.

I have noticed that a lot of gun shops have former 40 cal LEO S&W trade in’s. Going to keep my eye open for some nice samples in different model configurations.

Just some thoughts,

Trooper Joe

S&W made quite a few .40's , along with PC guns in .40 . I don't have any PC guns in .40 , but my favorite is my CS40 . Now I cheated and had Bill convert it to 10mm , but at heart it's still a CS40 . You might look for a Shorty40 , a PC gun . You can get a used one for a decent price .

Two questions - what is a”PC” gun? - and, I just started reading about those “Shorty40” guns. Does anyone have a line on one.

Thanks,

Trooper Joe

PC is Performance Center . The older ones shouldn't be mixed up with the current PC guns . I'm sure others will chime in on their feelings on this matter . I own a few , not as many as I wish. But once you shoot one , you are hooked for life , or at least as long as your money holds out .

New grips for my 4006TSW

The grips on my CHP 4006TSW had the normal former LEO scratches on them so I decided to treat this great gun to a new set. The original grips are straight back so I ordered a set. I also saw that some owners were installing the 59 series curved back grips with good success so I ordered two new ones from a dealer in Montana.

Got the curved ones today (the straight original style grips have not arrived yet) so I decided to install the curved ones.

I am very pleased with the way the gun feels and looks with these curved grips.

I also ordered two additional magazines that arrived today. I now have 5 magazines and should be good to go.

Any comments would be appreciated.

The 4006s are good guns. They are heavy, but the weight does a lot to dampen the recoil.of the 40. It's a *****cat to shoot in the 4006 series.

You will enjoy it.

I love the CHP guns, but For the collectors out there....the rarest 4006 of them to find is the version used by California State Park Rangers. They have an image of a Bear engraved on them.
