Glad to see this happen! It’s long past due!

There is a bike route along the Cape Cod Canal that I'd like to try out. The problem being that it is controlled by the ACE and I always carry when I'm biking.

If the weather ever breaks, I plan to drive down there and give it a try.

This is great news since we go camping a lot and sometimes would like to camp in some of those areas.

Note to all: This is a PROPOSED rule, it is not a done deal. In the article you will see reference to a public comment period, so you have until June 12th to send in your comments. Guarantee that they will also be flooded with comments asking them to scrap this proposed rule.

When a federal agency proposes a rule change this big, they aren't just testing the waters. They have a clear intent to enact the rule unless there is overwhelming reason not to do it.

I expect that way up near the top of the administration someone said "Do this."

This is in line with the President's general directive to reduce federal bureaucratic red tape.

Other than the usual anti Second Amendment suspects, there won't be opposition.

It certainly won't hurt to add comments to this from our side either.

The thing that always sticks in my craw is when it’s called Corp. of Engineers land or Federally owned land. I thought it was OUR land.
Aren’t ‘We the People’ the government here?

I guess that's debatable these days. :(

I added my support to the comments web page. So far there are over 2500 comments and about 99% of them support the rule change. I'd say its pretty much a sure thing. :D

you can carry in National Parks, last time I checked, so why not?

Indeed. The National Parks are the urbanites’ playground and symbol of conservation, and opening those up to carrying actually happened in 2009/10 under the previous administration. So I see no danger of this new rule not getting enacted under this administration.

Just remember that ACE land rules will almost certainly be the same as for the National Parks: legal is what’s legal in the state where the site is located. Especially important to remember for concealed carry.
