Randall 3-5’s

jward73 has made 7 posts in 7 years! A man of few words. Randall’s aren’t for everyone.

I may be wrong, but I think it's safe to say that he probably has never used one. Personally, there's absolutely no comparison between a Randall knife and a "real world" knife that has "Starkist Tuna" stamped on the blade. The difference is immediately noticeable once you put one to work. Like I said, no comparison.

Randall Fighting Stiletto made in 2012 designed by Bo Randall and COL Rex Applegate in the 1940s. The hilt, collar, and butt plate engraved and inlaid with gold by Master Engraver Joe Mason of Brandon, MI. Handle made from a Narwhal tusk legally imported from Greenland in 1954. I acquired the knife to display with my PNG 5 revolvers presented to General Curtis LeMay. The mascot of the Persona Non Grata Club was the Narwhal. Click on the photos for a better look.

The basic design of Randall Model 2 is much like one of the daggers found in King Tut's tomb.

I suspect that W.D. Randall had seen photos of that dagger. I doubt that Fairbairn or Applegate contributed that "stepped" look to the blade, like a spear point.

Reliable

I use mine. They seem useful. I think I’m in the real world.

I have had a model five for about sixty years. Service included time in Viet Nam and other adventures. The Randall never failed. However, about 20 years ago I noticed a hairline crack about half and inch back from the tip. I sent the knife to Randall, asking that they just regrind it. Instead, they sent me a brand new model five at no cost. Again, the original never failed. Nor did Randall. Some folks out there still stand by their product. The sheath is still the original. It has held up better than I have!
