Hello from Alaska. Can't believe after all these years of being on shooting forums and owning a few Smith and Wessons, I never joined.

Retired last September to be home with my wife. Her health is declining and I decided chasing the dollar was less important than spending time with her while she is able to still do stuff with me. I do own a small sawmill to keep me busy and generate a little extra income. It also feeds my woodworking hobby.

Currently I have a 657 Mountain Gun, four inch 66 and my wife has a 637. In addition I have several Ruger Bisleys in most of the chamberings. I am actively looking for a 6.5 inch Outdoorsman and a Mountain gun in 45 ACP. After that I may consider filling out the entire Mountain gun collection with one of each chambering. Wish they would build one in 10mm.

Welcome! Best wishes for your wife. Sorry she’s having some health issues.
If you’re looking for some particular S&Ws, you’ve come to the right enab....I mean place.

Hi Marty, welcome from WA state.

Best wishes on the wife and family.

Welcome from Idaho. I spent a little time in Alaska almost 70 years ago.
Went fishing at a little lake up near Wasilla (don't remember Lake's name).
Went to a dance in Wasilla. It was quite a small town then.

It may have changed a little since then. Wasilla is a busy place now. Traffic is crazy after noon every day. Fastest growing area of Alaska.

Welcome Marty from the Colorado Front Range. Thanks for your service to first our Nation, then your community, and now & most especially that you are providing your wife. As I'm sure you will most quickly learn, this is an outstanding forum filled with lots of kind and helpful folks with a truly amazing variety of knowledge on not only everything S&W, but also on most any other subject you'd care to explore.
May today be a Good Day for both you and your Mrs sir.

Tony

PS ... Just wondering if ammo availability in your area is crazy like here in the lower 48 or do you have better news there in AK?

Thank you sir. The situation is just as crazy here as it is elsewhere. I stocked up pretty well after the previous craze settled down. But I was pretty well stocked to begin with. About the only thing I'm short on is small pistol primers. But I've got enough to keep me shooting for a while.

Etta is doing well and enjoying my being home al the time. I think just having me available all the time has been a bit of a health benefit to her. No more worrying about being alone for a couple weeks at a time. I retired from Alaska DOC in 2013 and went to work for an oilfield security company and retired from that in September to be home with her.

It looks like a lot of good information here. I've prowled around here a few times when I was looking for specific information but never joined. I'm glad I finally did.

Welcome from Tampa. Used to travel to Anchorage on a pretty regular basis. Always stayed at that Marriott in downtown. Funny as I read your post I am wearing my Humpy’s shirt. Love their fried halibut fingers and ate more of those than I probably should have. Always wanted to explore living up but every time I brought it up my wife’s response was “ enjoy yourself up there and come down and visit “! Still in Tampa.😢

Welcome to the forum from North Carolina. You'll find a bunch of knowledgeable folks here. Prayers lifted up for your wife.

Welcome to the forum, Marty from sunny San Diego. I had a thriving cabinetmaking business. My wife suffered a minor stroke in late 2018 and I got out of the biz to stay with her. She's doing fine now, thank you! Still got most of my hand tools and power tools, a small table saw, but that's it. I am a beginner and bought my first firearm ever [S&W 327 R8] and found it to be a very reliable and accurate firearm.

Some day, perhaps we can talk and trade stories on why working with wood is so enjoyable and rewarding. BTW, we've got kin folks in Eagle River, outside Anchorage.

Glad to have met with ya, Marty!!
